Randwick R8 – $600k Gr1 Chipping Norton Stakes (WFA) 1600m
1. ANAMOE (3) 19x11114x1
T; James Cummings / J: James McDonald (59kg)
Champion who just looks a cut above these. Has won 12 races and $10million in prize money thus far. Resumed with a gutsy half length win in the Gr 2 Apollo over 1400m from Hinged and Fangirl. Fitter now and should win again.
2. MO’UNGA (11) 6x032852x5
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Hugh Bowman (59kg)
Is second up here after beaten just over a length by Anamoe in the Apollo last start. Fitter now. Loves this trip and did finish in front of Anamoe in the Gr 1 Mackinnon last November. Capable of causing an upset and runs very well for Hughie.
3. KNIGHT’S ORDER (7) 521x13439x
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J; Tim Clark (59kg)
This is a good racehorse and he will be massive odds. Have some of it. He should go hard from gate rise and lead, and when he leads he is very tough to pass. Won first up over a mile last prep and went on to place in the Gr 1 Caulfield Cup. Big chance.
4. HUETOR (9) 11x3418x8x
T: Team Snowden / J: Willie Pike (59kg)
Good horse on his day and is a Gr 1 winner over 2100m but not sure which horse fronts up here first up. Will be running on and does like it damp. Trained here too.
5. LAWS OF INDICE S (6) 09x42833x6
T: Annabel Neasham/ J: Ryan Maloney (59kg)
Multiple Gr 1 placegetter but just can’t seem to get past Anamoe each time they race. Did finish hard for 2nd in Gr 1 Toorak this trip, and in December went to Hong Kong and was 3rd in the Gr 1 Hong Kong Mile. Beaten 2.4 lengths when resuming in the Apollo behind Anamoe. Place.
6. STOCKMAN (10) x9644188x0
T: Joe Pride / J: Sam Clipperton (59kg)
Good handicap stayer but was last behind Anamoe last start when resuming in the Apollo. This will test also..
7. ARAPAHO (2) 17123820×7
T: Bjorn Baker /J: Rachel King (59kg)
Good handicap stayer who ran race of his life when just over 2 lengths behind Anamoe last start when resuming. Might bob up late here around the fringe of the placings.
8. BENAUD (5) 542x64260x
T: John O’Shea /J: Chad Schofield (59kg)
Winner of just one race in his life and it was 1400m. This is too deep.
9. EL BODEGON (12) 1x7233x3x9
T: Chris Waller / J: Regan Bayliss (58.5kg)
Is extremely gifted but a fine, slim looking animal. Got back and didn’t run on as expected when 9th behind Anamoe when resuming. Was 3rd behind him in the Gr 1 Cox plate last year. Should run a lot better here. Has place claims.
10. MONTEFILIA (8) x718x4340x
T: David Payne / J: Dylan Gibbons (57kg)
Good solid multiple Gr 1 winner who is always a place threat over any trip. Does run well while fresh and resumes here.
11. FANGIRL (1) 410x2562x3
T: Chris Waller / J: Kerrin McEvoy (57kg)
Superstar who was the real eye-catcher in the Apollo when flashing home for 3rd to Anamoe. Probably runs past him if race is 75m further. Trip here is 200m longer, is fitter now and last Oct over 1500m narrowly beaten in the $10million Golden Eagle. Huge chance.
12. HINGED (4) 24x53358x2
T: Team Hayes /J: Mark Zahra (59kg)
Highly talented mare. Can lead or sit right back, either way knows how to find the line. Led and narrowly caught by Anamoe in the 1400m Apollo. Is fitter now. May take a sit behind Knight’s Order this time and make a charge over the rise. Big threat.
