Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for the five best bets of the day. Good luck, punters!
Newcastle R1 – Open 2&3YO Hcp 900m
This will be a mad dash and this fav, PARTY DOLL has drawn the widest. So if she gets out and goes as she is prone to do she may find herself trapped deep. Enter the very nicely weighted SHE’S A BAD GIRL. She has placed 4 times at this level and is resuming here. Previously when fresh she has placed 2 of 2 at this level so we know she will be in this finish. Should get the better run of the pair. Quinella bet.
Tip: SHE’S A BAD GIRL
Newcastle R3 – Mdn Hcp (3YO+) 1600m
Fascinating affair. I have a little bit of time for this son of Frankel named, DADDY FRANK. Go figure why? Anyway, on debut at Kembla he was going to the line well for 3rd in a similar race. This is 200m further. That day the two who beat him home have gone on to place in a Cl 1 and the other bloke easily won a Newcastle maiden. So the form is first rate.
Tip: DADDY FRANK
Doomben R6 – Cl 4 Hcp (3YO+) 1050m
I like the Sydney-sider EYE PEA OH in this. She has been crying out for a fast track and gets that today and she has had trouble with 1200m so this shorter race is ideal. Up a little in grade but may well have the opportunity to control this race and prove too swift late. There is confidence around her at corporate bookie level too.
Tip: EYE PEA OH
Doomben R8 – BM70 Hcp (3YO+) 1350m
Gotta say when I looked over the form for this race that STARZAM just jumped off the page at me. Drawn the fence, Jimmy Byrne to ride, very fit and loves this trip. The one heavily backed overnight, OCEAN EMPEROR, is the main threat and quinella bet.
Tip: STARZAM
Newcastle R8 – BM64 (3YO+ ) Hcp 1400m
I’m having something each way on SAQUON here. He is down in class on his home track and it is wet. Those three things make him a chance at at $31 he represents value. Throw in the fact this is his absolute pet trip – expect a big improvement on his recent poor form all done in the city. GLOWING GOLD can run 2nd.
