Horse Racing Tips – Rosehill | Sat 8th Jan

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Saturday’s Rosehill meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 10 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Heavy 8

Rail Position: True entire

Big question. Just how good is STEPLEE? This lightly raced son of Sidestep loves it wet and he gets a wet track here. He is resuming but prior to spelling he carried 60kg on a bog track to win his maiden by a huge maiden then at Muswellbrook under 61g he swarmed home from last on the bend to win easily. Could just go bang. Big show.

GOLDEN POINT is showing a lot of talent too. Won past two races, at Tamworth and Inverell, latest on a wet track over 1200m. Watch market but appears gifted. Danger

TULLA PARK is smart and looked very good winning first-up. This is harder but she loves the mud and hits the line hard.

Tip: STEPLEE

Not the strongest field in the world which will suit DYNAMIC IMPACT who drops a long way in grade here. Was a strong 4th to Kirwan’s Lane last start. Big show.

OVERLORD finished hard to win first up in weaker grade but did it in good style. Respect that.

FIORDLAND had been struggling to find best form until last start where he looked strong late to win easier race at Gosford. On home track now.

Tip: DYNAMIC IMPACT

This is the first look we get of this former rising Kiwi star AND WE DANCED. Is on new home track and had shown talent. No weight to carry here. Big show.

ARCTIC THUNDER will improve on plodding 6th to Fashchanel last start when 2nd up. Had scored when resuming and is capable of dashing hard late. Looks like the one to beat.

SAIGON is smart and on home track here. Beaten a nose this grade when resuming and just 4th last start when 2nd up. Big danger.

Tip: SAIGON

The first-up run by HOLY REIGN in this grade last start was terrific. Ran his heart out for 3rd. Gets a 1.5kg helping hand with the Tom Sherry claim and is fitter now. Big danger.

METRO LEGEND resumes here. Has got good first-up form behind him and Jay Mac rides. All strong pointers.

CATAPULT will get back but is very fit. When his mind is on the job he can flash late and this isn’t overly strong. Respect him.

Tip: 1. HOLY REIGN

Tough race. AL MAH HAHA loves the track wet and he gets it here. Wasn’t all that strong last start in this grade when weakening 8th over a mile. Fitter now, has drawn much, much better and can improve a lot. Looks well placed here. Big show.

DARLEB just keeps improving and keeps winning. Made it three on the trot last start and is well up to this race and the conditions. Must be respected.

LACKEEN continues to promise certain big things and while he has been handy and useful they haven’t really arrived. Gets everything tailer-made this time however and is 4th up. Ready to rumble.

Tip:  LACKEEN

RULE OF LAW is in career best form. On speed when easy winner of a BM 64 then led all the way too easily win this grade last start and carries the same weight. Must be considered.  Is very fit.  Looks the testing material.

NEVER SECOND has won three of past four starts and last start just ran away with a good race looking outstanding. Was scratched during the week for this race. Chance.

TWILIGHT AFFAIR is a good mare but is rising so far out of her grade. Saying that, she led all the way to easily win her maiden at Gosford last start with 58kg and drops to 52kg today.

Tip: 1. RULE OF LAW

Former English galloper SOUTHERN LIGHTS might run a really cheeky race here at big odds. on his Aussie debut last start he made ground late but was 9th this grade. Extra 100m here suits, is fitter and likes it damp.

CANASTA will give your cash a great sight. He will be on speed all the way and is very fit.  Expect a good run.

LOVEPLANET was good late when 5th last start when resuming. Is second up here, is on home track and is expected to fly late. Placed this grade when 2nd up last campaign. Gets back and will run on gamely.

Tip:  CANASTA

What a good contest. Chris Waller will saddle 50% of the field but I don’t think he can run a place. SOUTH PACIFIC was beaten just on a length when racing for new connections last start over a mile. Much better off this trip and loves it wet.

FUN FACT led and weakened in the Summer Cup over 2000m last start finishing 9th. On home track here, will strip considerably fitter and will finish a lot closer. May take a lot of catching.

PECUNIARY INTEREST is the interesting horse. Has won two from two since resuming and although they have been in much weaker grade, he carried weight and ran useful time. Will be very fit for this and looms large.

Tip: PECUNIARY INTEREST

NIFFLER is smart. Might even be very smart. Won three in a row then came hard when in this grade last start and finished 2nd. On home track here and is perfectly drawn so looks the one to beat.  Looks well placed today.

NOTHINSWEETABOUTME knows only one thing – go hard early and run them along. Has won past two racing like that in weaker grade. Wet track suggests that tactic may work today.

CASINO KID is just one of those heartbreak horses. Always seems to find trouble in the straight. Up in class here following a series of strong but luckless placings. Is down in weight though and if he gets clear air, he will beat these.

Tip: CASINO KID

On his day GARIBALDI was headed towards stakes level. He has a powerhouse finishing kick and his Eagle Farm win last start when 2nd up was extremely good. In strong stable but never raced on a heavy track before. Watch betting.

RANGES gets into this well at the weights as his form is consistent and he is 4th up today. Always runs up on pace and boxes hard to the line.

Surely today we see return to form of TRUE DETECTIVE. He loves it wet, goes well fresh and he resumes here and at the weights after an allowance he looks deliciously well placed.

Tip:  TRUE DETECTIVE
