Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for the five best bets of the day. Good luck, punters!
Wagga Wagga R6 Cl 1 & Man (3Yo+) Plate 1600m
The Mitch Beer stable is always hard to beat when they turn up at Wagga to race. In this race he saddles two of them but the way OLD GREGG stormed home from well back when resuming to grab 4th was an outstanding trial for this. Should run on very strongly here. Looks nicely placed.
Tip: OLD GREGG
Warwick Farm R4 – BM72 Hcp (3YO + females) 1600m
Hughie Bowman on a mare third up, yeah that’ll do me. He mounts TRAVELLING KATE here and she has run two smart races without winning since resuming. Perfectly drawn and looms large in this. THOUSAND YEARS is talented enough to make a race.
Tip: TRAVELLING KATE
Geelong R7 – $200k Listed Geelong Classic (3YO) 2200m
Interesting race. I’m reaching out to the past here by tipping LET’SROLLTHEDICE. He was Gr 1 placed as a 2YO when flashing home from last to grab 3rd in the 1400m Sires’ Produce in the mud at Randwick. That form would win this but three runs this time up haven’t yielded a placing nor have they set tongues wagging. But this isn’t overly strong and he racers like the trip will suit. Plus, we know he can run boldly in the wet. DREAM HOUR is smart and won past two in weaker company. Quinella them.
Tip: LET’SROLLTHEDICE
Geelong R8 – $500k G3 Geelong Cup (3YO+) 2400m
Good race and there should also be sufficient pace to make it a true staying test. I suspect SERPENTINE and GROVE FERRY will kick up from their gates and be on the speed from the start which should suit former English import INTERPRETATION. From his perfect marble he should slot in behind the speed then prove too swift and too well-weighted down the running, winning comfortably and making himself a genuine lightweight Melbourne Cup hope. Serpentine may well fight on in this and grab 2nd at big odds.
Tip: INTERPRETATION
Geelong R9 – $175k Listed Black Pearl Stakes (Females) 1200m
Classy field lining up for this and it should be very competitive. Therefore barriers play a big role. I’m on the Godolphin mare KATALIN. She hasn’t won for a while but gee she has been right there and is very honest. Just tries so hard and is very fit. Should sit about midfield here and looms large as the one they have to hold out. JUAN DIVA resumes but does race very well while fresh so that’s the quinella.
