Horse Racing Tips – Tuesday 9th November

Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Gosford meeting. Good luck, punters! 

This Gosford card is a pretty hard one to work out today. So many good chances in all the races. I think only three can win this race, however. THE MAXINATOR, AUZSTAR and MISTY DREAMS. All have drawn really well but I think I’ll stick with The Maxinator. He was a great 2nd at Newcastle in this grade on debut then was spelled. His first-up run, last start, also in this grade was a tad disappointing in comparison but it wasn’t without merit. He was only beaten 2 lengths and will derive good benefit from the outing. Probably drives to the lead this time and will take catching.  Quinella them.

Tip: THE MAXINATOR @ $3.40

A couple of emerging young stayers here, and I think the. best of them may be WILLINGA STIRLING. He’s only had two starts so pretty big ask going straight to 1900m but both those runs have been at this level, both have been excellent performances where he will learn a great deal, and both were on wet tracks, which he gets here. Last start he was beaten 6 lengths into 3rd behind Dark Energy who might be very smart. That day he made up good ground late over a mile. Extra trip here, slightly weaker opposition and I think he flashes home.

 Tip: WILLINGA STIRLING @ $4.30

Pretty sure I’ll be taking a fair chunk of the $3.40 on offer about DARK ENERGY, a 3YO who might well be Saturday city class. Is beautifully bred, his mum Mnemosyne for example won a Gr 1 race at this very distance and earned nearly $1.5m in prize money. He may not reach that level, but the way he won his maiden at Kembla last start suggested he has a lot of talent none-the-less. Is very fit and although this is stronger he is on his way now. This is his 9th start and he also has shown a liking for wet tracks.
