Interesting race. I like the look of MISS BARTY’S PARTY for a few reasons. First and foremost I actually think she is the best athlete in the field. But the track is a reason too. She likes to jump, allow the others to run hard early so she can find her feet in the ruck, then launch. Lots of country venues just don’t give her enough real estate to work with. But Newcastle will. She’s had 4 starts this time up so is super fit, gets a welcome 2kg claim and I think she flashes home the best late.

Obviously this isn’t a strong field but I do like the tenacity that LADY REDWOOD displays. She is rock sold and tough. This is her 5th start this time up so she is very fit. I suspect she will be on speed all the way and she can sustain a long gallop which is essential in a field like this. KADASHI is in form too. Quinella them today.

I like the look of VIKING POWER in this. He has raced all over the place and in fact from his 6 starts, he has raced at 6 different tracks. Today will be his 7th for both categories as well. And this track may suit today by the last race. He goes quickly normally and likes to lead. Today I think that might be a very good place to be once they straighten up in the last. The track will be chopped up and the jocks will know where the fast lane is by this stage. So if he swings in front he can be the first onto the moveator. Ran 2nd after leading in a stronger race last start.
