Hawkesbury R1 Mdn (3YO+) Plate 1400m
Tough race but I must say I like it. Should develop into a good betting race and if we go the right way, we win. There really seems only two hopes – LAW PARTY and TEXCEL. I’m on the latter. I watched him closely at Canterbury last start when resuming over 1100m. He sat back but produced a powerful burst shortly after straightening to get himself right into the picture. He charged between runners but his run ended about 75m from home. Should strip considerably fitter here and will run down Law Party. Quinella them up.

Hawkesbury R3 – Mdn Hcp 1500m
Could be a good day for Hughie Bowman if my eye is in. I think he lands this race as well on the very disappointing TIGHT ROPES. And that’s because even though she placed a few times in this grade when last in work, all while being backed, she has spelled it seems, quite well as she was very comfortable in a trial recently. And that can often happen with Chris Waller prepared horses. They come back lengths better. Hughie wouldn’t be on if there wasn’t confidence in that camp.

Hawkesbury R6 – BM64 Hcp 1300m
It is always exciting watching young horses with loads of potential make their ways through the grades and we have one here in the shape of TAGS. He’s by Sidestep and is trained in the bush. After a good run at Bathurst on debut when 4th, he figured out what racing was all about and won next start at Parkes by a good margin in super fast time. Then strolled in at Dubbo when up in class before spelling. Resumed 4 months later last start and won as he liked at Bathurst beating a smart one who had not been beaten before. This is much harder but he just zooms home to win when asked. I’ll be on him here.
