Horse Racing Tips – Thursday 8th July

Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Kembla & Grafton race meeting. Good luck, punters!

Kembla R2 – Cl 1 Hcp 1600m

12:35 (Local time)

Tough field, full of depth and they have a wet track to deal with. No doubt SIGNIFICANT RULE goes to the early lead and as he is improving every start he may take catching but, boy, if there is one capable of doing that I think it is MR BOND. He won last start at Nowra over this trip but the way he rounded them up then dashed away was rather impressive. I will quinella them but he might be pretty handy.

Tip: MR BOND @ $4.30

Kembla R6 – Maiden Plate 1200m

15:05 (Local time)

This looks a typical Kembla maiden with many young rising stars. I think the Team Snowden 2YO INSURGENCE might develop into a handy type. Has had one start, a strong finishing 4th in a similar open maiden. Came from 9th on bend and Tommy Berry rides today. He’s also by Sebring and they swim in the wet, so he looks, to me nicely placed. Will quinella him with local horse BHUTAN who is resuming.

 Tip: INSURGENCE @ $4.00

Grafton R7 – $200k Grafton Cup 2350m

15:55 (Local time)

Fascinating race. Lots of hopes as you would imagine with Gr 1 horse MIRAGE DANCER looking to bounce back and he may after his game 2nd last start. Has a big weight here though. Speaking of big weights, the way BERDIBEK humped 66kg and still fought on strongly to the line when 6th in town last Saturday was both. rave and commendable. History supports horses backing up quickly and I think he looks perfectly placed here with 54kg. Should drop out be rearward, then sprout wings late. He’s a big grey horse so will be easy to see flying home.

Tip: BERDIBEK @ $3.80
