Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s big Wagga meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!
Track: Soft 5
Lots of intrigue in this maiden. But two things I’ve noticed over the years of punting for a living is this: if a horse, particularly a maiden, runs a blinder in a race that has depth, it is worth backing next start. An added bonus is if that depth manifests itself in franking the form. You get giddy with excitement. The second standard thing to always observe is wagering. If a horse firms considerably the morning of the race from its overnight quote, get on. In the case of BLUESKIN in this, all three occurred. That means this grey horse trained by Gerard Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, looks perfectly placed to just go bang today.
This is an interesting contest. HANDLE THE TRUTH came from 14th on the bend under 61kg last year to run 2nd in this race. Resumes here with 59.5kg and presumably from this outside draw will get back towards the rear again. The long straight here will be of considerable help. He is the class and although this is a powerful rendition with the return of the enigmatic but often brilliant FRONT PAGE, if Handle The Truth runs up to his best he can blouse them all late. ANOTHER ONE is another one racing well and should be strongly fancied. Perhaps box them all up in trifecta and quinellas. Great race.
Tip: HANDLE THE TRUTH
I like the look of TWIG in this. She has managed to capture that critically important sense of timing and all the clouds align in this. She is 3rd up for instance, and last start was beaten a nose by the smart and in form OFF TO MOE’S who is again a rival here. She flew home that day to just miss and this is 100m further. Drawn well enough here and just looks a nice, safe bet.
