Horse Racing Tips – Thursday 26th August

Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Wagga race meetings. Good luck, punters.

Wagga R3 – Cl 1 and Mdn Plate 1600m

14:10 (Local time)

This looks like a nice fit for SHADOW OF MORDOR. The old boy, a veteran of 50 starts and the winner of just one, seems to have blossomed as he has matured. He has had two starts this time up and both have been great efforts, placing each time in much stronger races. He gets a 3kg claim in a Plate race today, comes into it 3rd and on a track and wet conditions that he has run well on previously. There is stable confidence around for him also. Should sit in about 4th spot until the turn and finish too strongly.

Tip: SHADOW OF MORDOR @ $8.00

Wagga R4 – BM66 Hcp 1600m

13:05 (Local time)

Not much separates the top few chances here on ability. So barriers and weights become the best guide. I like NOTHING COMPARES because he seems to have the most ability and after a 2kg claim for the strong rider Damon Budler, he may be the best weighted too. After winning a similar race he went to town and ran a great 4th in a H highway. Horses always when returned to bush grade from a Highway perform brilliantly. PERFECT PITCH maps that same sort of Highway to bush course. That’s my quinella bet.

 Tip: NOTHING COMPARES @ $2.70

Wagga R8 – Cl 3 Hcp 1200m

17:20 (Local time)

Interesting race with some nice types here. NIC’S HERO is trained here and has won 3 of his last 4 so is fit and firing. HARDY is an emerging talent having shown dash from his 2 starts to date, but I’m on the previous disappointment MNEMENTH. He looked like being a star progressing through the grades but lost all form toward the end of last prep. Two trials recently have been strong. I think he might bounce back.

Tip: MNEMENTH @ $8.00
