Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Wagga race meetings. Good luck, punters and enjoy the Olympics!Â
Wagga R4 – Open Mdn Plate 1200m Â
Rain fell overnight and poor old Wagga faces yet another heavy track. But that may well work in our favour today. The progeny of Deep Field tend to swim in the heavy ground and one of his daughters, MATHRIN, appears here. Jumps from a great gate, has strong recent form and seems to be improving. I suspect she sits back, one out, one back and out plugs these late. Will revel in the conditions. Money has come for FLYING GRACE so toss it in for second and I think we start the punting day off really well. Â Quinella them.
Tip: MATHRIN @ $4.10
Wagga R5 –Â Federal Hcp 1080mÂ
Got to respect the money coming in for BLACK LAVENDER but I think you cannot look past the improvement curve SAMINDI is on either. Just turned three years of age but looks to be a smart one in the making. Did get a wet track last start in a 2YO maiden yet powered away to win easily after being 6th for home. This is harder but that win might just convince her to run bravely here too. Bound to dash late. Â Quinella them.
 Tip: SAMINDI @ $4.30
Wagga R6 – BM58 Hcp 1200m Â
Interesting race. I always look for those with wet track form when the track is heavy and I also love horses for courses, home track advantage being a main stay in my thoughts. In this race, NIC’S HERO is in both those camps. And a further one as well, horses in form. He loves it wet. He also has won two of his past three runs and while this is a harder race, he loves this track. Should get back and run home hard.
