Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Murwillumbah race meetings. Good luck, punters.
Nowra R1 – BM58 Hcp 1600m
Big question coming up in this. How much does weight slow a horse down? Last start in this grade, DOM TYCOON bolted away to win by 4 lengths. Today in the same grade at the same trip, he goes up 3kg. Is that enough to negate the 4 lengths superiority he had on them last start? We will see but I don’t think it is. He’s an improving type and as such I think Nowra will suit him. Money for LINDEN TREE late Sunday morning suggests he will make a race of it. Quinella them up.
Tip: DOM TYCOON @ $3.50
Nowra R3 – Cl 1 Hcp 1400m
I do like the timing and look of NOTIONS in this. She seems to be coming good at exactly the right time I get the impression she comes to town after taking care of these. Her CV looks promising too. Just two runs and after failing at the Sunshine Coast she ws transferred to Team Freedman and they have improved her considerably. That showed up last start in a maiden here where she carried 57kg, sat back in 4th to the bend at 1200m and just outsprinted them down the running. yes, this is harder, but she should have improved too and she does have knowledge of this track and carries .5kg less weight.
Tip: NOTIONS @ $2.90
Tamworth R3 – Mdn Hcp 1400m
A perfectly good indicator to success is found in the betting markets. And past form too. But in the instance of HEMSWORTH, he opened at $3.00 and by Sunday morning at 10am he was $2.05. this based on stable confidence and the fact he ran a ripper race on debut this grade when flashing home for 3rd. That experience and the money suggest he looks a good bet here too.
