Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN previews Saturday’s Randwick , with horse racing tips and analysis for all 10 races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: Out 11m from 1000m to w/p, out 8m remainder
It was only a maiden at Hawkesbury but when CZAR was asked to take off and run down the leaders, he did and did it in style. Big rise in class here but he is a colt going places.
PLYMSTOCK looks stakes bound and is resuming here. Trialled like a superstar recently when 2nd under a hold. Will gives these a start but has finishing power.
ZOUGOTCHA created quite the impression winning a weaker race on debut. Just went bang when asked to and looks up to this level.
Tip: PLYMSTOCK
Randwick R2 – BM72 Midway Hcp (3YO+ females) 1100m
This looks a good race for BUCKIN’ BEAUTY. She is 4th up and last start was 4th in a. BM 88 won by the stakes-bound Andermatt. This is a big drop in class and she is much fitter now. Looms large.
PLEADING is just a joy. Always puts in, knows how to win, is very honest, handles this class and is 3rd up today. That’s a winning combo. Sure to be handy all the way.
SUPRINA is going to take beating. After winning three bush races on the bounce she was as game as old Ned Kelly when on speed and 2nd with a big weight at Wyong in the mud. Has claims.
Tip: BUCKIN’ BEAUTY
Randwick R3 – Cl 3 Highway (3YO +) 1400m
The two Cam Crockett runners who last week finished side by side one another in this grade, they being CRACKING MO (3rd) and MR HUSSIL (4th) are at it again here. And the quick back-up will suit them both. Mr Hussill covered a bit of ground and was still coming at the end but Cracking Mo held him out. Mo meets him a kilo better for beating him home but there is an extra 200m to deal with. Should finish next to each other again.
FOURMADEC is smart and looks to be on the rise. Has won past two and this is a good race for him. Is a dual acceptor also. Drawn the fence which helps.
Tip: FOURMADEC
With the run now under his belt, the top weight OUR INTRIGUE looks set to run a big race. He is the best performed horse in the field and he is very hard to hold out when right.
GONE BYE may, now that he is two runs into a prep and gets a juicy 1.5kg weight relief, show to advantage. Could lead these all the ay.
ALEAS who hails from England, ran on strongly for 4th in a similar graded race to this on his Aussie debut at Newcastle. If he has improved anything from that run, he is a major player in this.
Tip: ALEAS
On her day BAROSSA ROSA can win this. She sits up on the pace and just keeps going. But as she is ageing she also can be a bit enigmatic. Will like the 3kg allowance but will have to work from this gate. If she finds a rhythm, she’s a player.
ZARASTRO is building towards a win. Win two on the bounce last prep and his two starts this time up have been strong efforts in much better class. Super fit and ready now.
SENSE OF HONOUR is lightly raced but seems gifted. Good 3rd when resuming from 2 years spell last start under 61kg. Has won in the wet and rates highly here.
Tip: 1. ZARASTRO
Randwick R6 – BM78 Hcp (3YO+ females) 1400m
MISS REDOBLE is a bit hit and miss but ran a terrific 2nd lastvstart and is capable when mind is right. Perfect inside draw.
QUINTELLO has lots of talent too and won handsomely when resuming. Big show.
ARRANMORE is very close to a win. placed three out of three this time up and looks well placed. That all helps a great deal.
Tip: 1. QUINTELLO
Randwick R7 – BM94 (3YO+) 1100m
What a terrific race. There really is so much to like about ANDERMATT. He is strong, fast and finishes his races off really well. Up in grade here but still should be too good.
SURREAL STEP resumes here and is racing for a new trainer in Brad Widdup. Loves it wet and trialled really nicely. Big chance.
DRAGONSTONE has been promising to bust out and do something spectacular this campaign and can so here. Is 4th up but his past two efforts have been very strong. Did run 2nd to Andermatt last start and meets him 6, yes, 6kg better!
Tip: 1. ANDERMATT
Randwick R8 – BM78 (3YO+) Hcp 1600m
Nice race. We get to see the return to the track of the very promising DIAMIL here. He was awesome winning last start in this grade at just his 2nd race start in Australia. Jay Mac rides here, goes up 1.5kg and certainly will strip fitter. Handles the mud easily too. This is tough, but he looks to have star quality.
TAMPERING was 5th last start in a similar race. He was 2nd up and really, he was disappointing. But is better than that so should improve.
LE CHEVALEE is 3rd up and had solid form when last in work. Has talent. Has to be included.
Tip: 1. DIAMIL
Randwick R9 – BM88 (3YO+) Hcp 1300m
This looks so open, probably 4 million chances. If the win last start of O’PRESIDENT means he is back to his best, then. he can win again. He is very dominant on a wet track and he looked awesome last start although track favoured his style of racing. Watch market.
This is a strong race and RUSTIC STEEL can run on. Good speed early suits him. He’s very fit. Big show.
TAKSU is ready to pounce. Three runs this time in have been more than handy and the 2kg claim is a massive help.
Tip: 1. O’PRESIDENT
Randwick R10 – BM78 (3YO + males) 1400m
Near impossible to work out. So, so many chances, the track will be a mess, probably racing wide helps, and very few form lines to compare. Arghhhh.
They all have a strong chance. It’s impossible to work out. FRANCESCO GUARDI has been very well supported overnight despite this being a first-up win. Can run a mighty race.
NIKAU SPUR is classy enough and was a solid 3rd this class when resuming. Fitter now.
TORETTO is extremely consistent and will be on speed. Three easier race wins from past 4 starts.
Best I could do folks.
