Horse Racing Tips & Previews – Sandown | Wed 1st Sep

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Sandown Lakeside meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Good 4

Rail Position: Out 10m entire circuit

Going to have something each way on LAFARGUE to start the program. Started favourite in a nice race at Flemington on debut but just found them a bit slick and never close. Had break since and he can get away with this.

EL ROCKO resumes from spell. Still eligible for maiden class but he was placed in Listed company last time in work and ended prep in Group 3 class. He looks big odds first-up.

BEAGLE started favourite at Mornington on debut but struck heavy track. He still chased home hard and got within a length of winner. Had a break since and can figure on firmer ground.

AWE did a few things wrong first-up at Pakenham synthetic but he still hit the line solidly and was just out of placings. Sure to be better from that outing and cannot dismiss.

Tip: LAFARGUE

WONDERFUL TONIGHT powered home final stages at The Valley on debut and grabbed close placing. Sure to be better from the race experience and this looks nice race for her.

CALIPER just got fraction too far back at The Valley first-up from spell but was an eye catcher making late ground. Bigger track will suit and watch for her last 200m.

BON’S A PEARLA was another who caught the eye final stages at Geelong last start. She can improve again and would not be surprised to see her grab a late placing.

MISSY LONGPORT is a debutant from the Alderson stable. She has been solid enough in her two trials and from ideal barrier would not leave out of chances.

Tip: WONDERFUL TONIGHT

CELESTIAL FURY created a big impression win powered home to get up in last stride at Flemington on debut then found Listed company a bit too hot last start. Had a freshen-up and back in right race.

TAMETOMO resumes from spell. Finished hard to win his maiden when first-up at Sale last prep then was not disgraced in Listed race at Flemington. He can win this.

DEVOUT HERO started favourite at Geelong on debut and put the race beyond doubt in a couple of strides last 150m. She can win again.

FABALOT resumes. He will want much further than this before finding best form but he demolished them in maiden before break and may surprise these.

Tip: CELESTIAL FURY

REFLECT THE STARS deserves a win. Placed in last couple when making good late ground and gets his chance to return to winners stall.

STEEL SKIES let down strongly for impressive win on the Hillside track here last start. Finds similar race and he can make it two in a row.

HOT SUSPECT comes to town off the back of a couple of impressive provincial wins. Deserves chance in town and drawn to get all the favours.

MARCHONS ENSEMBLE is getting fitter coming into this at fourth start this time in. Improving with each outing and expect he will be in finish.

Tip: REFLECT THE STARS

Liked the way HASSELTOFF hit the line at Flemington last start and he comes into this third-up from spell. This a nice race for him and from ideal barrier looks nice each way value.

PETRUCHIO has been racing in consistent for but just has not been finishing races off well enough. Should get the right run in transit and would include at nice odds.

QUINTELLO looks a smart mare working through her classes with authority this prep. Dominant on the Hillside track last start and she can win again.

FIRSTCLASS DREAMER finished the race off strongly when placed behind The Brumby last start. Drawn bot awkwardly but has advantage of apprentice claim and he cannot be left out.

Tip: HASSELTOFF

MAHASHAKTI should have finished closer in a better race at Caulfield first-up. Held up last 50m and went to line untested. Back in right class and can get away with this.

LEALE was beaten less than 2 lengths in nice race at Caulfield last start. She looks ready to return to the winners stall and gets chance in this field.

WHITE HIBISCUS is becoming a little frustrating for supporters just failing to find a win this time in. Going to put her in again because she will win soon and don’t want to leave her out.

FLEXIBLE is an interesting runner resuming from a spell. She took on quality Group races last time in work and although will be better over further may run cheeky race fresh.

Tip: MAHASHAKTI

EVENING GLORY has not been beaten all that far in three starts this time in. Beaten less than 3 lengths in better race at Caulfield last start and back in winnable race here.

PIONEER RIVER chased hard final stages when just out of placings at Flemington last start. He is always competitive in this class and must respect.

MOEEN resumes from spell. She finished last prep with a couple of strong wins and finds similar race to last outing and she races well fresh.

NARVAEZ has been placed in two of three first-up tries. He took on some hot races last time in work and would not be surprised to see him right in the mix.

Tip: EVENING GLORY

HE’S THE REAL DEEL won with something in hand this track first-up then he was even more impressive last start when jumped to the front and gave nothing else a chance. Drawn bit wide but if he finds the front will take catching again.

FRANKIE PINOT comes across the border in super form. Won at Morphettville fresh then has followed up with a couple of sound placings. Loves it wet and with apprentice claim can win again.

SMOKE BOMB finished too well for good strong win at Bendigo two starts back then forget run at The Valley when never on the track. He can bounce back in this.

DIAMOND’N’STONES comes into this ready third-up from spell. Not beaten all that far on heavy at Randwick first-up then just bit flat last outing. Cannot leave out.

Tip: HE’S THE REAL DEEL
