Horse Racing Tips & Previews – Sandown | Sun 1st August

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Sunday’s Sandown Lakeside meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Good 4

Rail Position: True entire circuit

Gai Waterhouse looks to have found a smart jumper in SOCIAL ELEMENT. Won all three over the bigger jumps this prep with last two being margins of 30 lengths and 9 lengths respectively. Finds harder race but he can win again.

RIDING HIGH finished a long way of Social Element at Pakenham last start but he still placed. He is a safe jumper and can sneak a place again.

FLYING AGENT won the Brierly back in May and if he can rediscover that form would be a factor in this. Cannot leave out of exotics.

ABLAZE was well in the market at Pakenham last start but he just did not finish race off well enough. Comes into this third-up from spell and he can bounce back in this.

Tip: SOCIAL ELEMENT

PREDETERMINED resumes from a spell. He won when fresh at Lakeside first-up last time in work and this not a difficult affair to resume in.

MYNUMEROUNO won his maiden with something in hand at Swan Hill on debut then went to town and was not beaten all that far. He looks up to this and would not leave out.

ATTRACTABLE is the big query on debut for the Peter Moody/Luke Nolen combination. Did not flatter in recent jumpout but if any support would follow.

CECIL STREET LAD was in the market at Hillside on debut and after having the perfect run in transit sprinted too well. He can win again.

Tip: PREDETERMINED

DJANGO EXPRESS was well supported at Ballarat on debut but found heavy ground. He showed good speed to lead to lead but fitness told final stages. Better from the experience and he can figure.

ORPHAN’S TRUST resumes from spell. She was a dominant maiden winner at Mornington last campaign and if she finds that form here will be hard to beat.

SO RISQUE won his maiden at Swan Hill on debut then went to Hillside and was competitive when placed. This raced is not beyond him.

Tip: DJANGO EXPRESS

MAWAANY MACHINE was too strong winning at Pakenham last start. That made it two wins from his last three hurdle starts and he looks the one to beat.

KARAKORAM chased home Mawaany Machine at Pakenham last start and he looked the main danger again. Look for them to fill the quinella spots again.

LIGHT PILLAR created a big impression winning his hurdle maiden in a canter by 12 lengths. This a harder affair but he is progressive and must include.

SIVAR is another who created a big impression winning his maiden hurdle by a big space last start. He can sneak into the exotics.

Tip: MAWAANY MACHINE

NORWAY won his maiden heel by a big space at Warrnambool two starts back then was just as impressive at Bendigo last start. He can measure up to these.

SAUNTER BOY won the Kevin Lafferty at Warrnambool two starts back then ran slashing race when placed on the flat at Flemington last start. He is sure to be in the mix.

INAYFORHAY chased home Saunter Boy at Warrnambool first-up from spell in the Kevin Lafferty. He will be much better from that outing and must include.

WIL JOHN just keeps winning. He demolished them at Warnambool last start and he is a tough gelding who will keep coming and is never beaten.

Tip: NORWAY

Liked the way SWINDON LASS attacked the line to win her maiden on the heavy at Moe two starts back then she was super when placed behind Red Santa at Caulfield last start. That form good for this.

CERNAN gets back in his right race. Strung together two city placings before being little one paced in better race at Flemington. He can measure up to these.

GREY KHAN raced on the speed before sprinting quickly to win at Bendigo then he just battled on the heavy last start. Looking for him to bounce back in this.

Tip: SWINDON LASS

MR BRIGHTSIDE worked wide soon after straightening at Geelong and he let down impressively for dominant maiden win. Craig Williams sticks with him and he can measure up to city class.

UNFAIR DISMISSAL just found Barbie’s Fox a little too smart here last start. Drawn to get all the favours and he will be a factor final stages.

FACEMASK has been racing in consistent form when not beaten all that far in last couple. Has the inside draw and he will get his chance at some stage in straight.

Forget the run of VIBRANT GLIDER at Flemington last start when he was eased out of the race. Previous form good enough for this and he cannot be dismissed.

Tip: MR BRIGHTSIDE

BRONZBA is the query runner first-up from spell. Only had the one run and that was in New Zealand and she powered home from well back for impressive win. Drawn to get the perfect run and with luck from the corner she may be bit too smart for these.

BOTTOM LINE finished too well to win at Geelong two starts back then he was not disgraced at Hillside last start. Going to throw him in multiples at odds.

KAMIEN comes off a strong last start win on the heavy ground at Moe. Likely to get similar conditions and he can measure up to these.

Tip: BRONZBA

Sandown Lakeside R9 – BM64 Handicap 1300m

WYLD SAVANNA powered away to finally break her maiden status at Pakenham last start. Have always had an opinion of her and she may go on with it now she has broken through. Have something each way.

COPPER FOX returned to racing at Geelong and he showed nice turn-of-hoof to drive through and win. Will sit just off the pace but look for him to be attacking the line late.

TRAIL BLAZER is another who comes off a last start win at Geelong on the heavy ground. Had a break since and would not leave him out of multiples.

Tip: WYLD SAVANNA
