Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Sandown Lakeside meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Soft 6
Rail Position: Out 4m entire circuit
HYPOTHETICAL showed good speed to lead at Mornington on debut but fitness told late and she was overran. Will be better from the race experience and from ideal barrier she is the one to beat.
SUGAR POP resumes from a spell. She was beaten in a blanket finish at Mornington on debut then pulled up with heat stress at Geelong before break. Drawn awkwardly but she will run well.
ONLY HUMAN is another coming back from a spell. He was competitive in all three starts at first campaign and if forward enough is likely to give this a shake.
Tip: HYPOTHETICAL
LOVE TAKES TIME started favourite at Mornington last start and she fought the race out tenaciously just finding a couple better late. Never runs a bad race and must consider.
CHATELAINE relished the heavy ground to win at Hamilton in a canter last start. That made it two from two for her this campaign and she can measure up to this.
WAHINE TOA comes into this ready to find best form third-up from a spell. Beaten less than a length in similar race at Mornington last start and she can sneak a placing.
Tip: LOVE TAKES TIME
SAINT TROPEZ was placed in Group 3 company in Adelaide two starts back then forget he went around in the S.A. Derby when covered plenty of ground and entitled to tire. Back in winnable race.
KURABUI pulled up lame when in the market at Hillside first-up. Drawn to get the perfect run in transit and she will be a major player.
RED ON RED is racing well having won two of his last three starts. Expect that rider will take him forward and sit in first couple and he takes catching.
Tip: SAINT TROPEZ
MASTERFUL finished the race off strongly to win at Mornington first-up from a spell then he made some ground late at Caulfield last start. Third-up and this a winnable race.
DANAUSTAR sat on the speed before proving to strong winning at Swan Hill last start. Drawn to get the right run and no reason he cannot win again.
HEALING GAME resumes from a break. He broke his maiden this track at first prep then stable thought enough of him to go to Alister Clark before spell. If forward enough he may be too good for these.
Tip: MASTERFUL
SACRED COMMAND comes into this ready third-up from spell. He has been placed in both runs this time in and gets his chance to win.
COPPERFIELD relished the heavy ground to win with something in hand at Cranbourne last start. Finds similar race and from ideal barrier he can win again.
FREE TO MOVE was another who performed well on the heavy ground when placed at Hillside last start. Drawn to get the right run and will get similar conditions again.
Tip: SACRED COMMAND
SILENT SURRENTE looks a promising filly. She won on debut with something in hand before a dominant win last start on the Ballarat synthetic. She can measure up to city class.
MERE FANCY covered plenty of extra ground when always wide at Hillside last start but she stayed tough in the heavy ground and proved too smart. No reason she cannot win again.
AUDREY GIRL won with something in hand at Geelong two starts back then she chased home hard and not beaten far at Cranbourne last outing. She can figure in exotics.
Tip: SILENT SURRENTE
AWAPUNI PRINCESS only just missed in a driving finish here last start. She finds similar and from inside barrier she will get all the favours and can go one better.
LADY D’ORO is overdue for a win. She has been placed in last three starts and in what looks a competitive race she will get her chance to return to winners stall.
WAY TO GO PAULA has a strong first-up record with her only two career wins coming when fresh (4:2-0-0). If stable have her forward enough she can figure.
Tip: AWAPUNI PRINCESS
Really think this is the right race for GRAND POPE third-up from a spell. Placed in both runs back at Flemington and although drawn wide looks the right way to go to finish the program.
Cannot leave out any Patrick Payne trained horses at the moment and no reason SIXBYSIXTYTHREE will not be right in the mix first-up. Solid trial leading into this will have him forward enough.
Waterhouse/Bott have the front running FIERY RED resuming from a break. He was placed in all three runs last time in work and takes catching in this.
Tip: GRAND POPE
