Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Sandown Hillside meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: Out 14m entire circuit
Sandown Hillside R1 – Two-year-old Handicap 1300m
Going to have something each way on WATER BOMBER. He won impressively on the synthetic fresh then was placed behind smart Boogie Dancer last start. That good for this.
FREEWAYS won her maiden with something in hand at Bendigo last start. Damien Oliver sticks with her coming to town and that good enough for me to throw her in.
MADAM DUBAI looked to relish the heavy ground on debut at Moe. She will get similar to that here and like her chances to make it two from two.
Tip: WATER BOMBER
Sandown Hillside R2 – BM70 Handicap 2400m
The blinkers go on for WAHINE TOA for the first time and that could be the winning move. Chased home well enough at Lakeside last start and she can win this.
CHATELAINE is a consistent mare who rarely runs a bad race. Won first couple this campaign then not been too bad in a couple of runs since. Cannot leave her out.
AEECEE DOLCE relished the heavy ground at Warrnambool last start. Looks like she is going to get similar ground and cannot dismiss her especially if wet.
Tip: WAHINE TOA
Sandown Hillside R3 – BM70 Handicap 1400m
If CANBYA can produce the form she showed when just out of the placings in the Rivette Series Final then she will get away with this.
RAVAGED AWARD chased home strongly when placed on the heavy track here last start. Finds similar race and she gets her chance to go one better.
SEACOLE was placed in the same race as Ravaged Award here last start on the heavy ground and with same conditions she cannot be left out.
Tip: CANBYA
Sandown Hillside R4 – BM78 Handicap 1000m
Sandown has witnessed many heroic efforts of the grand old galloper Zipping in the past and if ZIPPING BOY can show half the ability of his former namesake he will get away with this.
Thought the run of TWIST OF FURY was better than finishing position suggests at Flemington last start and from inside gate here she will be competitive.
MCKEEVER did not have much luck at Geelong last start and if she can get some clear galloping room would expect him to make his presence felt.
Tip: ZIPPING BOY
Sandown Hillside R5 – BM70 Handicap 1600m
KISS ME IF YOU CAN fought the race out tenaciously here last start and only just missed in a driving finish. Finds similar and he gets chance to go one better.
HANAADY made a big impression at Ballarat last start when she powered over them final stages to win, Drawn to get all the favours and if she gets chance in straight will give this a shake.
SAINT TROPEZ started favourite at Lakeside last start and he ran well holding onto minor placing. Craig Williams takes the ride and he is on fire. He will be in the mix.
Tip: KISS ME IF YOU CAN
Sandown Hillside R6 – BM70 3yo C,G&E Handicap 1400m
HEYWOOD deserves his chance in town. Won two of last three starts and was strong at the end of the race at Bendigo last outing. Looks a safe each way bet.
DANAUSTAR jumped to the front and gave them a galloping lesson at Lakeside last start. That made it two in a row and no reason he cannot win again.
SIR MAXIMUS started favourite at Ballarat last start but just found one better over final stages. He will strip fitter off that outing and can go one better.
Tip: HEYWOOD
Sandown Hillside R7 – BM70 Handicap 1400m
FREE FLYING STAR just got too far back here last start but liked the way she weaved a passage through traffic and if she can sit a bit closer she can win this.
INFLUENTIAL JACK is screaming out for a win. Been close up in his last couple of starts and from ideal barrier he should get all the favours and will be in finish.
FREE TO MOVE was placed on the heavy ground here two starts back then looked unlucky when beaten just on a length last start. He will feature in exotics.
Tip: FREE FLYING STAR
Sandown Hillside R8 – BM70Â Handicap 1800m
Patrick Payne stable have been winning everywhere and would not be surprised to see them get away with this with SANTERO. Relished the heavy to win here last start and with apprentice claim looks well in.
REAL SENSATION looked the unlucky runner when held up behind Santero last start. Craig Williams stays aboard and sure he will want to make amends in this.
RAINBOW THIEF has won two of his four starts this track and last start was beaten less than 2 lengths in a bunched finish. Drawn ideally and must consider.
