Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Saturday’s Rosehill meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: Out 7m, entire circuit
After opening at $20 on debut in a similar Saturday race, RAGING BULL just kept firming and firming. He ran 3rd, beaten under 2 lengths by Cape Breton who ran in a Gr 1 race last week. Sure to have admirers again. Strong claims.
VERBEK must be considered. He is still a maiden but his past three runs have all resulted in him running 2nd, latest in a stakes race behind Volcanic Rock who then ran in a Gr 1 race. Big show.
HUNDRED PROOF is worth following in this. He too is a maiden but last start he finished between Cape Breton and Raging Bull after sitting back 4th to the bend. Clearly has talent and is improving every run.
Tip: VERBEK
It does appear this trip and perhaps a tad further is what CRYSTAL PEGASUS has been craving. He won two races in England over slightly further than this and his two Aussie starts suggest he will run on gamely here. Big show.
His stablemate and fellow former European WICKLOW may well be one of those imports who just grows another leg when in Australia. He is thriving and has brilliantly won his past two starts. Should do so again. Watch the market.
This is a major rise in class for POWER ME UP but he is in smashing form winning past 3 bush races on the bounce. So he’s fit and trip shouldn’t worry. Also, to counter the rise in class he drops a long way in weight.
Tip: WICKLOW
Scone mare A FORTUNATE LASS won two races on the bounce before stepping out in one of the Highways last start as a $31 chance. And she charged home, beaten less than 2 lengths when 4th to Swagger. That run will improve her and she rates a show here too.
UNDERGROUND MUSIC is smart. Won first up in style in this grade here, and last campaign won 2nd up. Today is 2nd up again and the weight allowance is a huge help as she’s effectively gone up just 1kg.
It’s a big ask and a big step in grade under this weight for FANGELA but he might be pretty handy. Has won his past 2 runs down south and does hit the line hard. Respect all that. Big show.
Tip: UNDERGROUND MUSIC
British horse with Godolphin and he has slowly but steadily improved in each of his 4 runs in Australia thus far, culminating in a very strong 2nd last start. Is well up to this level and looms large. Must be a lot fitter now.
Monsieur Sisu looks the testing material based on the fact his 3 runs this time up have been courageous efforts. And he is racing with consistency, energy and honesty. Will lead these and will take running down. Â Have in your numbers.
KUTAYHA has staying talent. Is up in grade and yet to win in 3 runs this time up but there was something in his 3rd last start in a slightly weaker race that says he is ready to pounce.
Tip: 1. LACKEEN
Tough race. The class horse is NIKOHLI BEAGLE and he has shown that by the way he sits off the speed and just gathers the leaders up before kicking away. Terrific example of it shown this grade when resuming – making him 4 wins from past 5. Big chance to do it again. Â Watch betting moves.
The bad draw doesn’t help IRISH ANGEL who may have to drop back a pair further than anticipated. But last start when resuming she was 5th to the bend and just exploded to win same grade. Big show.
SALLY’S DAY was hitting the line last campaign like a good horse in the making. She resumes here but must be in your numbers.
Tip: 1. NIKOHLI BEAGLE
These BM 78 races throw up a different winner every week. It really is a lottery. For instance ZELL scored last time, but is drawn deep here. Does get a Bice weight advantage though and is very honest.
HE’S A HOTSHOT didn’t fire a shot this level when resuming last start. However, he can do that and bounce back next start. Must be fitter now. If he runs up to his best he is in this finish.
TYCOONIST has his foot on the till. Jay Mac rides here and he has placed at past two. Is on home track and will hit the wire hard.
Tip: 1. ZELL
I suspect if the real YONKERS can handle this mud he will finish very hard. Is racing in spectacular fashion of late. He looms large
WU GOK is 4th up and his return to form last few when 3rd and 4th after leading in a similar race were great trials for this. And keep in mind, he loves it damp which he gets today and he won this time last year. Watch the betting.
PARRY SOUND drops right down in weight and is a solid stayer on his day. Looks very well in now that he is 5th up and did run a good race when 2nd in a similar race last start. Big, big danger.
Tip:Â 1. WU GOKÂ
What a brilliant contest. Don’t write off Belluci Babe here. She just keeps finishing a good one who have been narrowly neating her of late. Is very fit, well up to this grade and may just avoid meeting an up and comer this time….that’s if Katalin doesn’t fire up. Respect.
Lightly raced Godolphin mare KATALIN steps up in grade here but she has won 3 of 5 starts and last start in a BM 72 when resuming, was quite a stunning win. Might be pretty handy.Have to
SAHRA, I think is super fit now and honest so, will come up a solid burst late.
Tip: 1. KATALIN
This bloke CRIMINAL CODE may actually be better at this shorter caper than when stepped up to staying races which he was very brave in last campaign. Just gives the impression he hits the line harder at the end of shorter races and is so can finish over the top of these. Big show.
OSCAR ZULU rises in class and this is a particularly strong BM 78, but he may well be up to it. Chimed in and won well last start. Big player today.
HARPO MARX may find this a tad short but he is headed to bigger things once he’s fit and on that score could sneak a place.
Tip: CRIMINAL CODE
