Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN previews Saturday’s Randwick , with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Soft 7
Rail Position: Out 3m entire
COLOUR DE ROY might be handy. Started nice juicy odds when resuming at Kembla but ran home hard to knock off a nice one. Failed this grade last start but is fitter now. Keep him safe.
PARK AVENUE has won two from two and showed a very good turn of foot both times. Suited this trip, is in form and rates well. That makes him a major player.
This is a very good winter 2YO race and IN THE CONGO probably leads them. He won on debut in an easier race but looked smart doing it. Must be considered as he is on his home track which always helps.
Tip: PARK AVENUE
Randwick R2 – Â Cl 3 Highway Hcp 1500m
So many chances in this Highway. MR WONG is a bit hit and miss these days but because of the compressed weights scale here he actually looks well placed on his best form. Will he produce, on a heavy track, a surface he has never won on? Hmmm, not sure but he is very fit and if he finds the fast lane in the straight he’s a player.
STATESVILLE is a 3YO but he seems to have a good bit of talent and might well develop into a Saturday grade horse out of Highway grade. But has drawn the outside here so will need luck. Recent form is very solid for this especially last start when wide all the way and a fine 7th this class. Should drop back and find cover.
TIPPING POINT is lightly raced and well in at the weights. Ran 2nd  in a Cl 2 Highway before hitting the line hard late in a Cl 3 Highway last start and 6th. May surprise.
Tip: MR WONG
Randwick R3 – BM78 Hcp (3YO+) 1000m
Big weight for the very consistent and honest LANCASTER BOMBER who resumes here. Drawn to sit off the expected very hectic speed and bound to barge home. Is a gem at giving your money a good run. Looks very classy.
MALKOVICH is just a speed machine and he was extremely good leading and just wilting late to grab 2nd when resuming. Fitter now and should again lead but may just keep going this time. Will make his presence felt.
ICE IN VANCOUVER is up a long way in grade but has won 3 of his 4 starts and might be very special. No weight on his back either. Â Is very fast. Sure to run on too.
Tip: ICE IN VANCOUVER
BRAZEN GEM looks very well placed in this. Is extremely good while fresh and resumes here. Won last two prior to spell in similar races. Gives the impression this trip will suit.
Can’t knock the form of GRAVINA lately and he loves this young apprentice Reece Jones. Both combined to easily win a BM 72 last start and can rise to this occasion. Deserves another win.
ULYSSES is very smart and honest. He resumes here but did win twice this grade when last in work. Trip is a tad short but he has class. Looms very large.
Tip: GRAVINA
Randwick R5 – BM78 Hcp (Females) 1600m
This mare ZING might be a great bet today. You would have to think after two terrific runs from a spell, at this level in shorter races, when 3rd both times, that now she is peaking for this. This, therefore, looms as a good race indeed for her and drawn nicely as well.
Similarly, Melbourne horse LA CHEVALEE. She has placed twice at both her starts since resuming and was showing tremendous talent when last in work. Â Big show.
MARGIE BEE is fast and from this awkward outside gate she has no option but to drive forward and lead. By this time of the day she might be well suited as the track could favour speed horses.
Tip: 1. ZING
Randwick R6 – Open Hcp 1600m
If ORDER AGAIN runs up to his last start performance when a flying home 3rd in the Scone Cup over this journey, and there is no reason why he can’t, then he should nearly win this. Strips fitter and looks well placed.
DEALMAKER is 3rd up here and both runs this time in have been useful efforts. Beaten into 8th last start but the run wasn’t too bad and he is 3rd up into this. Must be considered.
KIRWAN’S LANE is up in grade now but deserves to be. Is just very honest and gets home hard. Drop in weight is a great help and will be dashing at them as he too is 3rd up.
Tip: 1. ORDER AGAIN
Randwick R7 – Listed Bob Charley AO Stakes 1100m
What a terrific race. This despite seven scratchings. What those coming out have done has made this an affair to remember for VIRIDINE. Class on his day. Loves the sting out of the ground and looks the best placed runner at the meeting. Big danger.
EMBRACER is smart and if allowed to find the front without pressure, can kick off the bend and take catching. is 3rd up, and on his home track. Â Must be considered here.
WANDABAA doesn’t ever seem to win by my word she hits the line hard every time and is so honest. Will run into a place as she always does. Watch market.
Tip: 1. VIRIDINE
Randwick R8 – BM94 Hcp (3YO+) 1300m
This mare ENCHANTED HEART will relish the conditions here and with a 2kg claim looms as the one to beat. Will settle back but will be flying home late. She is very strong late and is very fit.
TRUE DETECTIVE was big odds when on pace and a game 2nd recently in this grade. Is fit now, is in 4th up into this this and likes the sting out of the ground. Big danger.
DREAM CIRCLE has been the winter surprise packet thus far winning at nice odds each time at past two starts. This is harder but winning form must be respected, looms large also.
Tip: 1. ENCHANTED HEART
Randwick R9 – Bm78 Hcp (3YO+) 1400m
I think this might be a bit short for JAZZLAND especially if REGAL STAGE goes hard early. Jazzland likes to lead and if allowed to without pressure he could take catching but Regal Stage is fresh and on his home track so he could challenge him early and in fact all the way. That will hurt both of them. However, if Regal Stage sits off him, both have good chances.
BLONDEAU, however, will love it either way, especially if they do cut at each other early. He is 3rd up and ready to just go bang here. Big danger.
