Rosehill R7 – $7.5million Golden Eagle (4YO) 1500m
1. PRIVATE EYE (17) 1x821x1741
T: Joe Pride /J: Nash Rawiller (57.5kg)
Top class racehorse who just gets back and explodes down the centre of the track. He did that beautifully in the recent Gr 1 Epsom, which traditionally has been a great lead-in for this race. He’s very fit, probably goes back a little further than he’d like, but he is a powerhouse late. Big show.
2. I’M THUNDERSTRUCK (10) 15×131131
T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Hugh Bowman (57.5kg)
Gee this is a good, tough racehorse. In fact he may be a superstar. You could write exactly the same things about him as Private Eye. He too is a last start stunning Gr 1 winner over a mile – his win in good time in the Toorak Hcp. Drawn well enough, should settle about 8th to the bend with cover and should flash home brilliantly.
3. AEGON Â (20) 11x1160x40
T: Murray baker & Andrew Forsman / J: Jason Collett (57.5kg)
Class galloper, but he is showing a distinct dislike for trips past 1400m. in fact, his form beyond 7 furlongs is woeful. On his day he is a smart racehorse and is 3rd up here. But that issue beyond 1400m is a worry.
4. APACHE CHASE (6) 4041210×11
T: Desleigh Forster / J: Jim Byrne (57.5kg)
Smart galloper who will bounce onto the bunny and be with the pace, if not the solo leader for a very long way. Just rolls at a good tempo and keeps going. Led and narrowly rundown by Private Eye over a mile back in May. Two runs since spell have been tough wins in Qld. Brings interesting front-running appeal to this race. Place hope.
5. AYSAR (15) 2x229x0446
T: Team Hayes / J: Jay Ford (57.5kg)
Hasn’t won past 1300m and while he looked good when a solid 4th at Gr 1 level to Sierra Sue over 1400m last month, he was a plain at Listed level last start. This looks too hard especially drawn so wide.
6. AIM (14) 7x61x967x1
T: Team Snowden / J: Andrew Adkins (57.5kg)
Interesting galloper. So annoying because there seems to be two of him. The one that jumps out, drops back and stays there and the one who showed up last start when he finished like a superstar to claim the $500k Silver eagle, a good lead-up to this. that was 1300m and the way he finished suggested he’d like this journey.
7. AMISH BOY (11) 234734×297Â
T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace / J: Kathy O’Hara (57.5kg)
Big boil over if he were to win. He’s raced 19 times and won just one race. Last start was 7th to Aim and the trip looks less than likely for him.
8. EXOBOOM (12) 1x2130x891Â
T: Team Snowden / J: Lee Magorrian (57.5kg)
Enigmatic galloper who can fire up big time on his day. And he had one of those days last week when he came from last in the 1400m Filante, finished like a steam train winning in very fast time. If he repeats that here on the quick back-up, he is a big player.
9. ELLSBERG (1) 13x1422x12
T: Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou / J: Josh Parr (57.5kg)
Off this draw this bloke is a player. And maybe even a big player. He is honest, a huge attribute at this level, can run a strong mile and is 3rd up from a spell. On speed and caught on the line in fast time last start when Aim got him. Is going to test this field.
10. LOVE TAP (3) 1114x7x014
T: Team Freedman /J: Robbie Dolan (57.5kg)
Smart galloper who will benefit from this great gate as he will sit in about 4th spot, most likely with cover and on the fence. Is very fit and did win this trip two runs back before same journey, ran 4th in the Gr 2 Shannon. This is a bit harder though. Not keen.
11. COUNT DE RUPEE (4) 31x2183x13
T: Team Price / J: Brock Ryan (57.5kg)
Gee this is a good, consistent racehorse. He finished hard and looked a tad unlucky when beaten half a length into 3rd behind Aim last start. He was 2nd up that after a very impressive BM win prior. Looks up to this grade now and the trip may be right up his alley. Has a great shot.
12. LAWS OF INDICES Â (19) 473x54518x
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Tommy Berry (56.5kg)
Class galloper, from Ireland who has performed at gr 1 level in Europe. And although on debut here, is in the same camp as Zaaki. Did win a 1400m Gr 1 in France earlier this year and that should be great form for this. Watch market.
13. MAXIMAL (22) 2218x2242x
T: John O’Shea / J: Alysha Collett (56.5kg)
Smart galloper who is an extremely valuable commodity. If he wins this he is worth an astonishing amount. Is the full-brother to Frankel and he appears loaded with talent. In the John O’Shea yard now and has raced well in England up to Gr 1 level. Horror draw here but the reports are he is very, very smart.
14. REVE DE VOLI (7) 18354x162x
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Brodie Loy (56.5kg)
Lightly raced Irish bred stakes winner now with Annabel Neasham. His best form is over slightly longer trips though and this is a big ask first-up.
15. FORBIDDEN LOVE (16) 191707×4783
T: Team Freedman / J: Jean Van Overmeire (55.5kg)
Interesting galloper. Will get back and will no doubt be trying her best late but hasn’t quite shown enough to suggest she can win this. Fair 3rd last week though in The Invitation. Needs to finish top 8 to go past $1million in prize money. Looks tested.
16. VANGELIC (5) x8245x4105 Â
T: Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (55.5kg)
Is fast and if left alone in front has been known to run very boldly. Tried to lead all the way in The invitation last week over 1400m, but was nabbed late and ended 5th beaten just over a length. Lots of early pace here though and that will bring her undone.
17. MEDIA AWARD (9) 823x111x8Â
T: Chris Calthorpe/ J: Jack Martin (55.5kg)
This is a really good mare. Started huge odds in the 1400m The Invitation last week but was getting home hard at the end beaten 3 lengths. Drops in weight here, is fitter, trip suits more and she may well shock a lot of people here. I’m having her in my numbers.
18. ATISHU (18) 31111×1416
T: Chris Waller / J: Glyn Schofield (55.5kg)
Smart mare who has a horror draw. They probably will go forward with her and be just off the speed hoping to slot in. If she does and gets a good run, she will test these. Meets Private Eye at same weight difference having been beaten less than 2 lengths by him in the Gr 1 Epsom. Interesting to note that at the 1500m of that race, she was in front of him. Food for thought.
19. KIKU (21) 13x1116x63
T: Chis Waller / J: – (55.5kg)
Good more who is 3rd up here so is peaking. Good 3rd in Gr 3 last start and trip suits but grade may test late.
20. OUR PLAYBOY (2) 008x6751x7
T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: – (57.5kg)
Interesting galloper. gets back and runs on, winning a Gr 3 over a mile two starts back racing that way but this is much harder.
21.WHEELHOUSE (13) 2x144509x7Â
T: Chris Waller / J: – (57.5kg)
Has talent and is 2nd up but likely to find too many horses in this field.
22. BLONDEAU (8) 4×13341324
T: Chris Waller / J: – (57.5kg)
Very fit galloper who was a hard finishing 4th to Aim in the Silver eagle last start. probably doesn’t get a start but is a rough place show if he does.
