Horse Racing Tips & Previews – Doomben | Wed 27th July

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Doomben meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Soft 6

Rail Position: Out 7.5m entire circuit

Doomben R1 – Two-year-old Handicap 1200m

11:58 (local time)

Expect that there will be support for CRIPPS TONITE after he won his maiden so impressively at Ipswich last start. Drawn ideally and Noel Callow stays aboard.

FLASHING STEEL comes into this ready third-up from a spell. Placed on the heavy at Scone last start and from ideal barrier would not be surprised to see him win this.

HOOT ‘N’ HOLLER made it two in a row winning at the Gold Coast last start. She does everything right in her races and she will be right in the mix.

Tip: CRIPPS TONITE

Doomben R2 – Maiden Plate 1650m

13:33 (local time)

MAPLE DOOR looks ready to win third-up from a spell. Been placed in both runs this track leading into this and he can finally break his maiden status.

ENTERPRISE JEWEL was beaten just on a length at Sunshine Coast last outing. Only needs to improve again and she will make her presence felt.

PRETES just found one a bit too strong at Grafton last start when she hit the front a fair way out. Drawn bit wide but would not be surprised to see her win this.

Tip: MAPLE DOOR

Doomben R3 – Maiden Plate 1200m

13:08 (local time)

LANDSBOROUGH LAD gets his chance for maiden win in this field. Drawn perfectly and has the advantage of apprentice claim. He looks one of the better bets of the day.

MILLWARD raced bit greenly at Sunshine Coast first-up from spell and just found one better. Expect he will be better from the outing and he should figure.

MARLEEDOONE was not beaten all that far at Ipswich at her only start last time in work. Drawn touch wide but two trials will have her ready for this.

Tip: LANDSBOROUGH LAD

Doomben R4 – BM68 Handicap 1200m

13:43 (local time)

HUSS ON FIRST had strong support on debut and although she was not in the best of moods she finished too well to win maiden. Drawn awkwardly but she looks above average.

VACCINE started favourite here first-up and she did a good job to get the prize coming off such a long break. She gets chance to make it two in a row.

WHY WE DRINK was making good late ground when placed behind a smart one first-up from spell. Only needs to show natural improvement to get away with this.

Tip: HUSS ON FIRST

Doomben R5 – Three-year-old BM68 Handicap 1200m

14:18 (local time)

KISS GOODBYE just missed on the poly track first-up from break. Like her getting back onto the turf and she will be much better second-up.

ARGYLE PINK won her maiden this track first-up then she went to Rockhampton and took out the Ken Russell Memorial. No reason she cannot make it three in a row.

MERIMEE resumes from a break. She has been placed fresh and her form last time in work was consistent enough to be a factor.

Tip: KISS GOODBYE

Doomben R6 – Class 1 Handicap 1350m

14:53 (local time)

If JAYANTHI brings her recent Sydney form up north can see her winning this. Drawn to get the perfect run in transit and she looks bit too good for these.

SABALENKA sprinted quickly and got the job done at Sunshine Coast two starts back then was luckless here last start. Drawn perfectly and expect she will be in finish.

CARNEROS won his maiden when first-up last prep. He comes off a Beaudesert trial win and looks ready for his return to the racetrack.

Tip: JAYANTHI

Doomben R7 – Class 5 Handicap 1650m

15:28 (local time)

Going to have something each way on RED LIGHT ROXANNE in this. She only just missed in driving finish at Ipswich two starts back then not disgraced on the poly track last outing.

PLATINI won two in a row before placing this track last start. He has found a purple patch of form and no reason he will not be a factor.

JACK THE LAD has not been all that far off them in last couple of starts and if he can get the right run from inside gate can see him featuring.

Tip: RED LIGHT ROXANNE

Doomben R8 – BM68 Handicap 1050m

16:03 (local time)

FETCH started favourite here first-up from spell and she did not let her backers down with an impressive win. She just found the class a bit too hot last start but she gets back in right race here.

MAXIMUM OUTPUT finished too well at Gold Coast two starts back then forget he went around last start when always wide and did not finish race off. Drawn perfectly and must consider.

CLAIRVUE STAR resumes from a spell. He is yet to miss a place in four first-up tries (4:2-1-1) and expect he will be a factor again.

Tip: FETCH

Doomben R9 – Class 2 Handicap 1110m

16:38 (local time)

DOVETAIL DIVA usually races well fresh and two recent trials should have her ready for a return. Going to have something each way to finish the program.

SNAPPY REPLY comes into this off two solid minor placings. Drawn to get the ideal run in behind the speed and third-up from spell looks ready.

NORD LYON did not have much luck when always wide at the Sunshine Coast last start. Going to need some luck from wide gate but must include in exotics.

Tip: DOVETAIL DIVA
