Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesdays Doomben meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Soft 5
Rail Position: Out 11m entire circuit
LEBANESE TRADER is a Kiwi colt who was placed in both starts back home before crossing the Tasman. Backed from $6.50 into $3.70 at Doomben first-up and ran into a placing. Strips fitter and he can win this.
OBER PURKLA was making late ground from long way back at Gold Coast last start and beaten less than 2 lengths. Third-up from spell and she will be hitting the line hard.
WINTER VIOLET raced up on the speed at Gold Coast last start and stayed tough beaten just on a length. Ready third-up and from inside gate she will be right in the mix.
ARCHDEACON is another ready to find best form third-up from spell. Fought the race out strongly when just out of placings here last start and that form good for this.
Tip: LEBANESE TRADER
GEOSTORM looks close to winning is maiden coming off two solid Gold Coast placings. Going to need some luck from awkward gate but if he gets right run will be right in the mix.
DAME MARGOT did not have all that much luck at Gold Coast last start and should have finished much closer. Previous form was solid enough for this and would not leave her out.
KAWUNEECHE caught the eye final 200m at Casino first-up from spell. Will give them a start but he has big finish and cannot leave out.
STOCKED AND LOADED got well off them first-up at Sunshine Coast but did not have that much luck in straight and should have finished closer. Better from the outing and from ideal draw he can figure.
Tip: GEOSTORM
SHE’S AN EAGLE deserves a maiden win. She has not been all that far off them in any of her seven starts and placed in both runs leading into this. She will not get better chance than this.
STOCKED AND LOADED got well off them first-up at Sunshine Coast but did not have that much luck in straight and should have finished closer. Better from the outing and from ideal draw he can figure.
VITESSE FRANCAIS had some support at longer odds at Doomben on debut and he was competitive for a long way before tiring. Sure to be better from that race experience and although drawn wide can improve enough to feature.
WHODAT was not too bad at Gold Coast on debut then only battled last start. Drawn ideally and at third start would be looking for vast improvement.
Tip: SHE’S AN EAGLE
SUPER GORGEOUS got his maiden out of the way at Ipswich last start. Started long odds on and won accordingly and although this is harder he can measure up to these.
SO CLEVER won as he liked on debut at Gold Coast and looks a smart gelding. Drawn awkwardly but he can win again.
CHIEF MONDO is another who comes off a strong maiden win here last start. Comes into this third-up and no reason he cannot get away with this.
DUBAI STAR is the query runner coming up from Victoria. Not beaten all that far at Sandown last start and if she can hold that form at Queensland debut will be hard to beat.
Tip: SUPER GORGEOUS
GOLDIFOX rushed home late to just miss here two starts back then she took on Listed company last start and was outclassed. Back in right race and from ideal draw she will get her chance.
PUNTARA is a Kiwi gelding who made his Australian debut in the G3 Gunsynd Classic and did not have all that much luck. Gets back into much easier company and looks winning chance.
TEARS OF LOVE was dominant at Toowoomba first-up then backed that up with an impressive Ipswich win. Drawn ideally and cannot leave out again.
LE CASTILE is a Kiwi mare who took on the Listed Spear Chief last start and was well held. She finds an easier assignment and expect her to improve.
Tip: GOLDIFOX
ZEFTABROOK has been racing in better races than she finds here. No luck in Listed class at Eagle Farm last start and if she can hold that form would go very close in this.
DARING BELLE was impressive over her last 200m winning at Toowoomba last start. Not far off at Eagle Farm previously and would not leave her out of chances.
LADY BRAHMOS resumes from spell. She has been placed in three of her four first-up runs and this is not a difficult affair fresh. Cannot leave out.
Forget DASH FOR DREAMS went around here last start when never on the track at any stage. Will get a much better run from ideal barrier and she will improve.
Tip: ZEFTABROOK
Going to have something each way on OUR ECHO in this. Comes into this third-up from spell and he has not been beaten all that far in either run back. Barrier draw ideal and he should be nice odds.
BRABHAM resumes from spell. He raced in super form last time in work winning three of five and placed in other couple. If he finds that form fresh he will be right in the mix.
RARI is another that resumes from spell. Given a solid trial at Grafton and although drawn out in the car park would not leave out of place chances.
RISING STAR looked like he needed the run here first-up from spell when weakened final stages. Sure to strip fitter and he will be in finish.
Tip: OUR ECHO
Always had an opinion of MCCOVEY COVE and he fought the race out to just miss here first-up. Drawn a touch wide but fitter and can get away with this.
EAST ASIA just wanted to overrace in Listed company last start and that proved costly as she could not finish the race off. Finds easier assignment and would not leave her out.
The run of BEACHBREAK first-up at Eagle Farm was better than finishing position suggests as she was only beaten 2 lengths. Better from that outing and despite wide gate she can figure.
THE IRONS is racing consistently this time in and a win is not far away. Placed at Gold Coast two starts back and if he finds that form is a must for first four players.
