Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Doomben meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Soft 5
Rail Position: Out 11.5m entire circuit
Doomben R1 – Three-years-old Maiden Plate 1200m
VACCINE coming off a long break after debuting in city class at Warwick Farm last season, seems to have come back in fine order running 3rd in a recent Doomben trial. Keep an eye out for any betting moves.
BLUE RAY got to the line nicely first up at Sunshine Coast, drawn nicely again and should only be further improved at his second run.
BOLD RANSOM after 5 placings this gelding must be on the verge of breaking through soon. Must be included in the place chances again.
Tip: VACCINE
Doomben R2 – BM72 Handicap 2070m
ENDLESS MYSTERY is third up today and looks ready for this rise in distance. Worked to the line nicely last time out at Doomben, so expect him to be right in the finish.
KHAALIS has had success previously at the distance range and after 3 runs back from a spell, this seems a nice progression to get back into the winners stall.
FAST TALKING was slightly disappointing in the run home last run but may pay to forgive that effort as is getting back to a more suitable trip again.
Tip: ENDLESS MYSTERY
Doomben R3 – Maiden Handicap 1660m
NOBLE CAT was just beaten last time out at Gold Coast in the heavy at his first start in a race. Will have learnt plenty from that and should be hard to toss.
NASSAU COUNTY is racing very consistently and beaten only 2.5L last time out at Doomben. Third up today and this looks well within his grasp.
CEE EYE CEE has been around the mark recently. Only placed one out of six although in a short career and could be a blow out chance in an open race.
Tip: NOBLE CAT
Doomben R4 – BM78 Handicap 1660m
SELEQUE is stepping up to the mile again and placed at it previously. Drawn perfectly to take a sit and be too strong in the run to the line. Looks the one to beat.
SNEAK PREVIEW has been racing very consistently recently with a first and second this time up, now 3rd up and should be ready for the step up in distance.
AZARMIN raced well at the mile previously and has been racing well in city grade in Sydney. Slightly disappointing last time out but may pay to forgive one more time.
Tip: SELEQUE
Doomben R5 – Class 1 Handicap 1350m
ENTERPRISE MIA worked home super last time to only go down by 1.5L. Drawn to get the run of the race, is a winner second up previously, so should be right in the mix.
COLLEAGUES hit the line hard at Doomben last start going down narrowly after coming from near last. With a better run intransit and Maloney onboard, look for a big run.
BADGER’S NUTS was well backed last time out and after doing plenty of work early to find the lead. Found plenty in the run home and must be included in the winning chances.
Tip: ENTERPRISE MIA
Doomben R6 – Three-years-old BM65 Handicap 1200m
SITUATION ROOM looking for a little bit a value here. Raced up on the speed on a heavy track last start and with better conditions looks great each way value.
BEAN DANCING coming off 2 nice wins at Toowoomba is now stepping up to midweek city grade. Has to be considered in the mix as has only missed the place once.
PENTITO is first up today and last time fresh in the new year ran a bottler. Recently ran 4th in a trial at Doomben and looks to have come back in good order.
Tip: SITUATION ROOM
Doomben R7 – Class 3 Handicap 1200m
EL VENCEDOR after coming off a couple of top efforts in much tougher class races over the carnival, led them up last time and fought on gamely. Will be hard to get past in this class.
NIMBOSTRATUS is drawn perfectly to obtain the run of the race. Won twice at the distance in USA so a firmer track than what she has seen, would be a plus.
MAXCALEMMA from the draw will more than likely drop out the back of the field. If the pace is on, could be the one at odds getting home at the business end.
Tip: EL VENCEDOR
Doomben R8 – BM72 Handicap 1350m
SECRET TALES looks the best chance to finish the day with. Has had 5 starts at the journey for 3 wins and a placing. Likely to sit midfield and be the one finishing off at the business end.
LOVE YERS ALL is drawn to get a nice run throughout. Is very consistent and has a liking for this distance being in the money 12 out of 16 attempts.
MAGNUS BELLAGIO is a winner of both his starts this time in with Steph Thornton on board again. Stepping up slightly in trip looks a plus and will be hard to toss.
