Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Sandown Hillside meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Good 4
Rail Position: Out 12m entire circuit
DUCHY OF SAVOY resumes from spell. She was placed in Sydney when first-up last start. Comes off solid trial win and this looks right race for her to break maiden tag.
HEIR APPARENT fought the race out strongly to just miss first-up. Sure to be better from that outing and from ideal barrier he should get all the favours.
VINLAGO started favourite first-up on the heavy ground at Sale but he just found one better final stages. Sure to strip fitter and drawn ideally.
RUE LEPIC comes into this third-up from spell. Did not have all that much luck at Stony Creek last start and may surprise these at big odds.
Tip: DUCHY OF SAVOY
PERIBALDO chased home valiantly here on debut but just could not finish race off well enough to be in finish. Better from the experience and cannot leave out.
THE ECONOMIST looks ready to win. Been placed in both starts and was beaten less than a length here last start. Drawn to get the ideal run and can go one better.
MOCCA DIAMOND drove through and only just missed at Colac last start. Will get ideal run from his barrier and would not leave out of place chances.
OCEAN RAIDER started big odds here on debut but thought he was good final stages when making late ground. Include in first four chances.
Tip: PERIBALDO
LUCKY DECISION was impressive winning his maiden here first-up. Now he has got that out the way he can go on and win better races.
UNFORGIVEN is another coming off a clear maiden win last start. Liked the way he got to the line and big straight here will suit.
ZOUTELLUS comes into this ready third-up from spell. He was placed at Geelong leading into this and can sneak a minor spot again.
Tip: LUCKY DECISION
MURRAMI EXPRESS was super when placed behind a couple of smart ones at Flemington last start. Drawn to get the ideal run in transit and this a winnable race.
CRYSTAL VAIN comes into this ready third-up from spell. Comes off same race as Murrami Express at Flemington last start and was not beaten all that far.
CAPO STRADA was also good in same race at Flemington and if he can hold that form he will be right in the mix again.
MEDIA EMPIRE finished too well to win first-up then another that was not beaten all that far at Flemington. Another who will make presence felt.
Tip: MURRAMI EXPRESS
BILL THE BOXER won his maiden on the heavy ground on debut then went to city class in Adelaide and despite tough run was again too smart. Drawn ideally and can win.
UNFAIR DISMISSAL finished the race off strongly and just missed here first-up. Will be fitter from the outing and drawn to get all the favours.
The run of RATHLIN was better than finishing position suggests at The Valley first-up. Strips fitter and placed in two of three second-up tries.
YULONG CODE looked like he would benefit from the outing at Flemington first-up. Won second-up last time in work and would include in this field.
Tip: BILL THE BOXER
BASARWA raced a little keenly and just did not finish race off well enough first-up. Sure to strip fitter and expect he will settle touch better in this.
DUNDIRTCHEAP resumes from spell. He did everything right and won both starts at first prep and if forward enough he can make it three from three.
THE STAGER raced on the speed before powering away to win as he liked at Terang last start. Drawn perfectly and if he can hold that form would be right in the mix.
CHASE ON THE CASE has drawn perfectly with inside gate. Placed at The Valley two back then was not far off them last start. He must be included.
Tip: BASARWA
YONCE started long odds on favourite at Mornington on debut and she won accordingly. Going to need an ounce of luck from her barrier but she looks city class.
WEGOBAM is threatening to win a race this campaign. Placed in both runs this time in including last start at Flemington. That form good enough for this.
NIGHT ‘N’ VEGAS is in the interesting runner first-up from spell. All three starts have been in New Zealand and most recent was a maiden win. Watch for market support.
Tip: YONCE
TRANSLATION has not been beaten all that far in any of her starts this time in but just finding it hard to win. She will not get better chance than this.
LILY ALLEZ won her maiden by a big space at Ararat two starts back then was poor at Bendigo. Looking for her to bounce back to best form.
FIVEFINGERDISCOUNT looks a smart gelding. Won maiden on debut then has followed with a couple of placings. Look for him to be in mix.
BARNEY’S BLAZE relished the heavy ground to win maiden at Sale first-up. Will strip fitter and this a nice progression.
