Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Doomben meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: True entire circuit
THE CATCH is racing in super form. Made it two in a row this campaign with a dominant win at Ipswich last start. Won first-up on the heavy by 6 lengths and will not mind it wet.
FAST TALKING sat on the speed before taking over straightening and was too smart at Ipswich last start. No reason he cannot win again.
SEDUCTION QUEEN looked like she would benefit from first-up run. Will give them a start but the step out to 1600m looks ideal.
Tip: THE CATCH
THE BIG GOODBYE gets a winnable race her. He has been solid in both runs back from spell and looks ready third-up. Happy to have him on top.
SKINS resumes from spell. Won two of three first-up tries and placed in the other. Going to need some luck from horror barrier but he looks definite place chance.
MASS DESTRUCTION was doing his best work final stages first-up. Out to the 1200m and expect he will be steaming home again.
Tip: THE BIG GOODBYE
ZOUGOTCHA relished the heavy to win on debut then she started favourite last start but was beaten. She looks talented and can return to winners stall.
MIDNIGHT IN TOKYO chased home the smart Nettuno in the Ken Russell Memorial first-up from spell. Will be better from the outing and drawn to get all the favours.
SHEEZA BELTER was placed in the Ken Russell Memorial last start. She only needs to hold that form to be right in the mix again.
CONTEMPTUOUS is putting together an impressive career record. Only the one run last prep and was too good at Eagle Farm. Drawn awkwardly but will go forward and takes beating.
JOY TOO ALL is another that only had the one run last time in work and she was dominant at Ipswich. Couple of trials leading into this and should be ready for first-up tilt.
NIEDORP resumes from break. She has a solid first-up record (8:3-2-2) and recent trial win this track suggests she is up to winning this.
NUDGE is not at her best on the heavy ground but she ran a gutsy race at Hawkesbury first-up when beaten just on a length. If she gets firmer second-up she can win this.
YAMAZAKI was another eye catcher when resuming from a spell. Came from a mile back at Gold Coast and she will improve second-up.
APRIL RAIN was enormous in defeat in the Silk Stocking last start after being wide she still held second spot. Drawn to get much better run and third-up can win this.
TAKSU demolished a nice field on the heavy ground at Randwick last start. He looks a smart gelding and can win again.
BUFFALO RIVER was brave first-up at Hillside holding on for a game second placing. He will be better from that outing and takes catching from the corner.
SOXAGON raced up on the speed before being let down and sprinting away for soft win at Gold Coast fresh. If he can finds a position from wide gate her will be tough to toss.
ZAAKI just looks class above these at weight-for-age. Not at his best on the heavy ground at Gold Coast last start but he was still good enough to win.
HUETOR comes into this ready third-up from spell. Placed at Randwick first-up then chased home bravely behind Zaaki last start. Third-up and ready to find best form.
KUKERACHA relished the heavy to win the Tails Stakes two starts back then he got very close in the Hollindale Stakes last outing. He will be in the mix again.
BARB RAIDER is such an honest filly. She was brave in defeat in Group 1 class in Adelaide last start. Will make her own luck going forward and she can go one better in this.
BELLE SAVOIR is and up and coming filly who just missed when favourite at Hillside last start. She needs some luck to find a position from wide gate but if she does she takes beating.
STALKING finally got her maiden out of the way at Kembla Grange two starts back then she got going late at Gold Coast last start. Drawn to get all the favours.
Tip: BARB RAIDER
Going to have something each way to finish the meeting on MISS HIPSTAR. She was placed in the Mick Dittman first-up then not disgraced last start. Nice odds in even race.
RUBIQUITOUS raced on the speed and although ran about proved too strong winning the Mick Dittman last start. Makes his own luck and he can get away with this.
Must always beware of the Kiwis when they cross the Tasman for this carnival and THERE YOU GO fits the bill in this. Must include in place chances.
