Rail Position: Out 5m entire
TURGENEV Â has loads of talent. Was safely held last start after spell but to be fair that race was about 3 lengths stronger than this. Expect an even better run. Keep him safe.
PUBLICIST is from Tulloch Lodge and is talented. Showed that on debut when a hard finishing and close-up 2nd at Kensington. Extra 200m here. Â Fitter now so is expected to go close.
Interesting to see how this filly MIKASA runs. Got a mile back at Kensington over 1100m and stormed home to grab 2nd in this grade. Â No weight here after claim and is 3rd up. Has a chance.
Tip: PUBLICIST
Newcastle R2 – BM64 Hcp 1850m
So many chances in this. MOTHER’S MERCY seems to have wheels and the 3kg claim here makes her a really top notch chance. Did win a higher BM race here than came to town and was 4th on two occasions, again in better grade. Should atone. Respect.
Two runs back from a spell and this old boy ALL BUT GONE looks perfectly placed. He too has good form at better levels and being 3rd up in this he should run very boldly. Â Should take a lot of holding out as this trip suits.
ZUDIN is on the improve. Three runs this time in have all been good, latest when hitting the line strongly this grade to grab 3rd. Distance here looks ideal. Big show.
Tip: MOTHER’S MERCY
Newcastle R3 – BM72 1500m
The toppie here ROYAL BANQUET hasn’t fired this time up but is considerably better than his three unplaced runs suggest. Less mid-race tempo here and should be right in this. Â Is vdown in grade.
NEW TYCOON will appreciate two important things here. The 3kg claim and the fact he is 4th up and now super fit.
MAJRLLA is no champion but is honest enough and getting fitter now 2nd up. Did win a similar race with a big weight last campaign. Should settle back and has wheels late.
Tip: ROYAL BANQUET
Just put on repeat. Well, maybe for TOOMUCHTOBEAR. He scored with an on pace effort at Bendigo in maiden grade last start. That’s now four starts for a win and three solid placings o is honest and capable here.
Speaking of honest gallopers this stablemates, CAT D’ORO and APOLLATE look well placed here. They both have having their 3rd starts this time up and have shown talent enough in previous couple. Try and fit both of them into your calculations. Must be in your numbers.
Tip: TOOMUCHTOBEAR
Newcastle R5 – BM72 Midway Hcp (3YO+ females) 1200m
You just had to love the way EXOTIC RUBY knuckled down to the task last start in this grade in town and ran a solid finishing 2nd. Is very fit. Â Looks to run into this race late and does boast better form then these in the past.
EYE SEE THINGS is honest, very consistent in fact. Has had seven starts this time up, in this and slightly weaker grade for 2 wins and 5 placings. Must be considered. Â Big show.
MYSTIC GEM has finishing ability and is fitter now. Resumed with a plugging 5th at this level and is 2nd up on home track this time. Â Has been backed overnight too. Â Is ready.
Tip: 1. MYSTIC GEM
Newcastle R6 – BM72 (3YO+) Hcp 900m
REMLAPS GEM was up a little in weight but a mare in form, and a strong one at that, has big claims now that she has been given a 3kg allowance through star apprentice Casey Waddell. Probably leads and will take catching.
STOICAL is back in best form ever winning 3 of past 3 starts. Stable seems confident again. Big danger.
STORMBORN down the bottom of the weights was beaten half a length by Stoical last start and meets him considerably better at the weights. Big danger.
Tip: 1. REMLAPS GEM
Newcastle R7 – BM72 (3YO+) Hcp 1300m
What a terrific race. A MAGIC ZARIZ is the class bush horse. Has the big weight but has form on this track and he has been runner-up at his past three starts wile being on pace throughout. Beautifully drawn here. Will be in the finish.
The lightly raced HEAD OD STATE resumes here but comes to this race with good form, an even better reputation and solid recent trials. Watch market. Have in your numbers..
SOAMI is consistent. Also boasts 2 wins from past 3 starts latest this grade in town and gets a welcome 3kg claim here.
