Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Bathurst & Lismore race meetings. Good luck, punters.
Bathurst R2 – Mdn (F&M) Hcp 1200m
This beautifully bred mare ZOUFLU has not inherited any of her parent’s ability but she may just have enough to scape home here. Does boast a couple of city placings quite a few months ago and her first up 7th in town was fair. Big weight here, but to counter that has decent 2nd up stats and this is a drop in class for her. Drawn to be up in about 3rd to the bend and is trained to be strong late. SUMMER PROMISE has raced only twice and did make good ground late to grab 3rd last start and this is no harder. Quinella them up.

Bathurst R5 – BM58 Hcp 2000m
I do like the look of the consistent but luckless LADY KIRKHAM in this. She has placed 5 times from her past 6 Strats at this grade without winning. Always runs on hard after getting back a bit early and is always honest. Somewhere in this broken world, the universe must reward consistency and honesty and I’m tipping today that happens with Lady Kirkham getting the chocolates. COULPA is also quite honest and is dour. That’s my quinella bet.

Lismore R3 – BM58 Hcp 1516m
Since changing stables MAGIC CHARLEE looks to have improved a great deal. No bagging or reflection on previous trainer as this often happens with horses once they get a new environment. But this bloke’s win last start in a similar type of race said he has found his mojo. Gets a welcome 2kg claim this time and that makes him very well in at the weights also. Looks a big chance to go back to back here. That experience and the money overnight suggest he looks a good bet here too.
