Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s Newcastle and Albury meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!

Track: Heavy 9 at both

What a fascinating race to start the card with. Team Hayes brings the favourite here from Victoria in LISTEN TO MAURICE and he has been well tried overnight coming off three solid hard-finishing runs. But, while I think he will be right in the finish, he’s giving weight to them all, one of them SILVER CANVAS and I dont think he can give that horse 3kg and beat him. It has taken Silver Canvas a few runs and time to find his sea legs but he is 2nd up here after a terrific 5th while fresh and closing off hard. Will appreciate this longer trip, goes well this track and looks the value play for mine.  Great quinella bet.

Tip: SILVER CANVAS

Interesting race. Mainly because I think it might just be a stroll in the park for HARDWARE LANE. If you can get $2.20 or better, I suggest you follow me in and get on. He has a huge weight but is a grade above these. Plus, it is his home track and he won his maiden here. That has been the only time he has raced here. Won at Hawkesbury two starts back coming with a powerful last 200m. OH NO MIKKI has talent for this level too so probably bobs up into a place but I think a few lengths behind the top weight.

Tip: HARDWARE LANE

Since changing stables SKYRAY has had two race starts and not fired a shot in either. But Jason Collett rides now, he is 3rd up, down a LONG way in class and I think he might just flash down the outside and blouse these. He actually was only 3 lengths away last start crossing the line with a clump of horses in a race 5 lengths stronger than this.
