Horse Racing Tips – Group 1 Winx Stakes

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1 Randwick Winx Stakes with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. KOLDING (10) 10x22501x5

T: Chris Waller /J: Tim Clark (59kg)

Beware the fallen idol again. Form first-up last start was average at best and it shocked everyone as he was heavily supported. His 5th lacked dash late. And this is a much harder field. But, this bloke has come off the canvass previously when overlooked by the experts. He’s won 11 races after all and nearly $7million in prizemoney. Have in your numbers.

2. THINK IT OVER (2) 5103x1214x

T: Kerry Parker / J: Brenton Avdulla (59kg)

Gee this is a good, tough racehorse. He goes well this journey and goes particularly well first-up. Showed he was more than up to this grade last campaign winning at Gr 1 level in the 1500m George Ryder then last start was 4th in the Gr 1 Queen Elizabeth. This journey looks ideal and he is the one they need to hold off.

3. CASCADIAN  (7) 0825x3413x

T: James Cummings / J: Hugh Bowman (59kg)

Class galloper, in fact looks the dark horse in this. Has won up to a mile and every run seems to improve him. Resumes here after winning the Gr 1 Doncaster then running a close up unlucky 3rd in the Gr 1 All Aged this trip beaten a nose by Kolding. Has first-up form too and there is a strong tip around he can swamp these late.  Is in career best form and should get a glorious run off the speed about 8th to the bend and he has strong finishing power.

4. DREAMFORCE (11) 0x017x528x

T: John Thompson / J: Nash Rawiller (59kg)

Smart galloper who is at his best at this track and at this journey. Likes to jump and lead and apart from Kolding who will push forward he looks the only real pace. Is a multiple Gr 1 winner when allowed to dictate and at big odds he may be the one to run down at the 200m.

5. IMAGING (6) 4303x2007x

T: Chis Waller / J: Kathy O’Hara (59kg)

Respect this bloke a great deal. He should be a $41 chance but he is dangerous at this journey and is very smart while fresh. was runner-up this trip at Gr 1 level last February when resuming.

6. STAR OF THE SEAS (9) 095x41690x

T: Chris Waller / J: Jay Ford (59kg)

Interesting galloper. Goes well first-up and resumes here. Is a multiple Gr 1 place getter but this is a crack field and being drawn a bit deep means he may have to drift too far back. Looks tested.

7. KEIAI NAUTIQUE (4) 045654×300

T: Matt Smith / J: Glen Boss (59kg)

Japanese galloper now here to race in Australia. Is a Gr 1 horse but tossed into the deep end here. saying that, Glen Boss the usual rider of the smart Think It Over is on this bloke at his Aussie debut in preference. That may be a push for him.

8. MASTER OF WINE (8) 04508x663x

T: Team Hawkes / J: Regan Bayliss (59kg)

Enigmatic galloper who can fire up on his day. But that day has been some time ago. Will find these too good. Place.

9. BRANDENBURG (13) 876x00134x

T: John Sargent / J: Rachel King (59kg)

Is trained here and has talent. But while fresh will struggle. Does like this track however. Will be big odds.

10. MOUNT POPA (1) 13x41x211x

T: Team Hawkes / J: Josh Parr (57kg)

Good strong galloper who is being set for the Gr 1 Caulfield Cup. as such will get run off his legs by these. But be wary. this bloke has enormous staying talent. Later on for sure.

11. MO’UNGA (12) 117x32107x

T: Annabel Neasham /J: Tommy Berry (58.5kg)

This bloke may surprise. Young stallion who likes to find his legs early then come charging home. wasn’ asked to do anything in a recent trial and probably will need this run but he does have finishing wheels. Is a Gr 1 winner over 2000m.

12. VERRY ELLEEGANT (5) 4117x3112x

T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (57kg)

Handy mare who might show up. Wait, what? No. This is a superstar, probably the best horse in Australia. Always races well fresh and surprisingly, given how good she is as a middle distance superstar, she boasts outstanding 1400m speed. Always performs while fresh too. Bound to be charging home. Has won nearly $9 million in prize money.

13. SHE’S IDEEL (14) 325x32324x

T: Bjorn Baker / J: Jason Collett (57kg)

Class galloper, especially when the trip gets longer. Is honest, but – she has never won at Gr 1 level. She’s never won at this trip and she has never won first-up. Not likely here.

14. HUNGRY HEART (3) 227x78111x

T: Chris Waller / J: Kerrin McEvoy (56.5kg)

Smart mare who has already landed two Gr 1 races last campaign during her three race winning streak. Not all that flash first-up but she has always shown and still gives the impression that as she ages she will continue, a la Verry Elleegant, to get better and better. Certain to make his presence felt for some time.

Tips: 1. CASCADIAN,  2. Verry Elleegant, 3. Think It Over, 4. Kolding
