Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Caulfield Toorak Hcp with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps – he has included the potential fora damp track in his thoughts. Good luck!

1. CALLSIGN MAV (11) 117x280x61

T: Danny O’Brien /J: Jamie Mott (58kg)

Returned to his best form last start being on speed all the way and was simply too fast down the running. And, is even fitter now. Big weight against a smart field but he is going to be in the fray late.

2. CONVERGE (10) 8x33120x69

T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott /  J: Tim Clark (56.5kg)

Is extremely talented. Especially over this journey. But his two runs this time up have been average at best. From this gate he probably sits back midfield and has the capacity to come home very hard. Watch market.

3. DALASAN (12) 0x66546x16

T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas / J: Jason Holder (56kg)

Might be the dark horse. Always races well at this trip and tends to really show up at Gr 1 time. Is 3rd up here and his two runs have been good hit outs for this. Big show.

4. LAWS OF INDICIES (15) x5730409x4

T: Annabel Neasham/ J: James McDonald (56kg)

Is ready to show up. Horrow draw here but he comes into this well weighted and is 2nd up after a good 4th to Callsign Mav last start. Loves this trip. He can be in this finish if he finds cover early. Have in your numbers.

5. I WISH I WIN (13) 238x123x11

T: Peter Moody/ J: Luke Nolen (54.5kg)

This is a really good racehorse. He has the ability to sit off speed and just explode late. Is super fit, loves this trip. Probably gets out when they turn and watch him sprint. He is very smart.

6. HILAL (2) 1x5237x940

T:Team Hawkes / J: Craig Williams (54kg)

Interesting galloper. Will be big odds but shouldn’t be as he is in this up to his eyeballs. Is 4th up here, is a Gr 1 horse and loves this trip. Unlucky last start when 12th. Expect improvement.

7. BUFFALO RIVER (7) 08×2606305

T: Michael Moroney /J: Daniel Stackhouse (53.5kg)

Another who will be over the odds because the way this race will be run makes him a good hope. He will speed to the front and with his lightweight and being very fit, also boasting a great record at this track, he could lead all the way. Respect him.

8. TUVALU (1) x12x1211x3

T: Lindsey Smith /  J: Jarrod Fry (53.5)

Form in restricted handicap grade was excellent before spell. Last start he resumed and was sent to Gr 1 level. Ran the race of his life to finish 3rd behind Callsign Mav over 1400m when on speed all the way. Has won this trip and if he has improved, he looks hard to beat.

9. GENTLEMAN ROY (4) 1121121×21

T: Team Hayes / J: Jye McNeil (53kg)

Is very good. Likes to go hard early and find a spot on the lead and with this weight he should be able to. A couple here also like to go hard so he may have to work but gee the way he raced and won over 1500m at Gr 3 level last start was impressive.

10. BANKERS CHOICE (16)  0111546×77

T: Michael Moroney / J: Craig Newitt (52.5kg)

From this gate he will have to go back and spot them a big start but that may work well as there will be enormous pace early. Is 3rd up and runs a strong mile. Can surprise by flashing home.

11. MILITARY EXPERT (9) x51527x112

T: Annabel Neasham /J: Jamie Kah (52kg)

Fascinating horse. Another really well performed handicapper who has drawn well enough but worries me is that he likes to go very hard early. And there are at least three others with the same penchant. Good 2nd to Gentleman Roy lastvstart over c1500m so is fit enough to be in this for some time.

12. NONAME LANE (3) 7×76116111

T: Will Clarken /  J: Linda Meech (52kg)

Has potential and the draw to be right there all the way. Is a winner, likes to be on speed but can and probably will sit off the speed this time. Lightweight who won the Seymour Cup this trip last start. Big show.

13. PINSTRIPED (14) 1x1150x23

T: Enver Jusufovic / J: Michael Dee (52kg)

Probably sits back near midfield and tries to run home. races like this trip suits and is 3rd up. Made up many lengths when solid 3rd to Gentleman Roy and Military Express last start over 1500m. Place show.

14. CHARACTER (8) 131010×734

T: James Cummings/ J: Dean Yendall (52kg)

More than handy handicapper and has raced his way into top form but in easier races. And that may tell in this. Place at best.

15. UNCLE BRYN (5) 16x316x622

T: Trent Busuttin and Nat Young / J: Daniel Moor (52kg)

Nicely placed. Has the talent to be in about 5th from the outset and has drawn perfectly. is in career best form. Beaten less than length by subsequent Gr 1 winner Smokin’ Romans last start.  Watch the market.

16. WINNING PARTNER (6) 28×0562007

T: Team McEvoy / J: Damien Thornton (52kg)
