Horse racing Tips – Group 1 Might And Power Stakes

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Caulfield Caulfield (Might And Power) Stakes with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps – he has included the potential fora damp track in his thoughts. Good luck!

1. ZAAKI (7) 1x21213x13

T: Annabel Neasham /J: Jamie Kah (59kg)

The way this race will be run should suit him a great deal. He can charge across from this wide gate and sit on the outside of Alligator Blood. His problem is that he is suspect at this trip. Yes he’s won  Gr 1 this journey, but on a soft track wit the pace on, he may have a little trouble holding a couple of these out. Saying that, he is all class.

2. I’M THUNDERSTRUCK (1) x55226x214

T: Mick Price & Michael Kent /  J: Mark Zahra (59kg)

Is ready. The pace will be strong enough and he should sit close enough now that he is super fit. Should get a cushy run on the fence all the way. Bound to sprint hard late and be right in this. Is 4th up now.

3. ALLIGATOR BLOOD (5) x68x21x721

T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (59kg)

Looks the likely leader and if left alone he will win again. That’s the key to him. They must attack him and make a genuine race of this otherwise his superior sprinting talent will best them again. Is very fit and worth the gamble. is also 4th up.

4. MR BRIGHTSIDE (4) 4x3441x115

T: Team Hayes / J: Craig Williams (59kg)

Classy galloper who is suited this trip. Is in career best form too. Just out-sprinted in a similar race last start. Pace should be on and he can finish it off well.

5. MO’UNGA (6) 543x26x032

T: Annabel Neasham / J: Damien Oliver (59kg)

Given how this race will be run and his staying talent he appeals as the one to beat. Is super fit and ready to go bang. Will sit back and if they battle away out in front setting nice sectionals, he finishes best. Should be competitive. Rates highly.

6. NONCONFORMIST (2) x64122x876

T: Graeme Begg / J: Jordan Childs (59kg)

Interesting galloper. Getting ready for the Caulfield Cup so may well be charging home late in this at very big odds. Not likely to win but should run a Cup trial very boldly.

7. ANAMOE (3) 2x31219x11

T: James Cummings /J: James McDonald (58kg)

Superstar who probably reaches champion status if he wins this. And he will go very close. Dominated in Sydney in two starts. Had a slight setback but looks ready to win again. Loves the Melb way of going. Can sit just behind pace and pounce.

8. BENAUD (8) x62542x642

T: John O’Shea /  J: Damian Lane (58kg)

Solid handicap stayer getting ready for the Caulfield Cup where he looks a great show. Will be last for a good part of this and will run on but at WFA he may be tested.
