Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Morphettville Goodwood with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps on this race and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. BEHEMOTH (8) 7x116x20x6

T: David Jolly /J: Kayla Crowther (59kg)

Old stager still a star and probably because he is top weight here is the forgotten horse. But he shouldn’t be as he goes well this trip, loves this track, is hard to beat 2nd up and is weighted to win. Respect him a great deal.

2. SAVATOXL (7) 1160x10x02

T: Team McEvoy / J: Barend Vorster (58.5kg)

Outstanding speed horse when on his game. Carried 56kg and led all the way to win this race last year. Goes up 2.5kg and last start humped 60kg around to just miss in a crucial lead-up race. Which all just means from this good gate he should lead and take catching.

3. September Run  (18) –

SCRATCHED

4. THE INFERNO (3) 1x6120x873

T: Cliff Brown / J: Mark Zahra  (57kg)

Star speedster who has taken a bit of time to hit top form this time up but he might be peaking here. Came from a mile back last start with 59kg to just fail catching Free of Debt and Savatoxl last start. Meets them both a little better at the weights. Big danger.

5. BEAU ROSSA (21) x1227x47x0

T: Will Clarken / J: Ben Price (57kg)

First up last start handy early but wilted badly when last to Free of Debt. Has good 2nd up stats and on his day is up to these. But prefer others.

6. IN THE BOAT (20) x321111311

T: Lindsey Smith / J:Blaike McDougall (57kg)

Interesting galloper. Form among weaker grades is excellent and he has won 7 races from 11 starts and placed in all the others. At this level this is as far as he likes to go and he only knows how to lead. Can he find the front from this gate with Savatoxl in the race? Probably not and that may bring him unstuck.

7. INSTANT CELEBRITY (17) 12x3677x29

T: Phillip Stokes/ J: Jake Toeroek (56.5kg)

Local horse with star quality on her day. Is a get back and charge late type and she did run 2nd in this race last year. Form not quite as good this year but can’t be left out.

8. THE ASTROLOGIST (6) 1313×37263

T: Team Corstens/ J: Fred Kersley (56kg)

Very tough to beat in these type of events. Started $61 and was beaten a neck into 2nd spot in the Gr 1 Newmarket at Flemington then close up 6th at Gr 1 level before last start leading with 60kg and just failing to hold out Regardsmaree. Must be considered as he doesn’t have to lead.

9. HALVORSEN (2) 980×131025

T:  Rob Griffiths & Mat de Kock / J: Andrew Mallyon (56kg)

Good honest tough sprinter who can always be relied upon to run boldly. Carried 58.5kg when a closing 5th to In The Boat last start and meets him 5.5kg better.

10. FREE OF DOUBT  (4) 16114809×1

T: Chris Bieg/ J: Dom Tourneur (56kg)

Good local speedster on his day and had that last start with 54kg and at huge odds just nabbing Savatoxl here. Previous form was poor and goes up 2kg.

11. REGARDSMAREE (1) 50630×2811

T: Nick Ryan /J: Billy Egan (56kg)

Has found form at the right time. Started big odds when finishing hard to claim Lombardo and The Astrologist with 57kg then backed that up with a great stakes win at Sandown. Has claims..

12. IRONCLAD (16) 111x900x17

T: Will Clarken/ J: Will Price (55.5kg)

Has talent. And has drawn poorly. Form is patchy. Won a nice lead up race for this then thrashed last start. Not keen.

13. LOMBARDO (19) 81115×6162

T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Zac Spain (55.5kg)

Might be a bit of a dark horse here. Won in good time here in weaker race and last start on speed all the way when a great 2nd beaten a nose by Regardsmaree. Meets her a kilo better for failing by a wart. Have in your numbers.

14. OUTLAWS REVENGE (9) 1x21157x68

T: Ryan Balfour / J:  Jason Holder (55.5kg)

Will be huge odds because his form just isn’t good enough to warrant a look in here.

15. BELLA NIPOTINA (15) 21323×5815

T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace / J: John Allen (55kg)

If she can slot in with cover about midfield then expect her to be in the finish. Is very honest and can hit the line particularly hard. Rattled home from a mile back last start when 5th in Gr 1 behind Snapdancer on front-runners track. Respect her.

16. AYSAR (12) 29x04460x4

T: Team Hayes/ J: Michael Dee (54.5kg)

Hasn’t won for a while and while he has talent and speed this will test.

17. NOT AN OPTION (5) 0x403x9x17

T: Michael Moroney / J: Pat Moloney (54.5kg)

Gets back and has been known to run on hard. But probably lives up to his name at Gr 1 level.

18. FRANKIE PINOT (10) 22123221×1

T: Team McEvoy / J: Dean Holland (54.5kg)

Very nice horse. Mixes his distances but always puts in and hits the line brilliantly. Is up in grade here but his honesty and consistency give him a sluggers chance.

19. EXTREME WARRIOR (13) 2x25x110x1

T:  Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Jamie Kah (53.5kg)

Interesting to see how this 3YO goes. Fours starts back won a bush maiden now is a query horse in a Gr 1 after his brilliant win when resuming in a nice Listed race last start. May find it a bit rich but has obvious talent.

20. GENERAL BEAU (14) 5125×72342

T: Mat Ellerton/ J: Daniel Moor (52.5kg)

This is a very smart young horse and he is honest too. Looks weighted to win this. Ran 3rd to September Run at Gr 1 then carried 57.5kg on a wet track when 2nd at stakes level here last start. Drops 5kg.

21. MANHATTEN TIMES (11) 1173×11223

T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas /J: Jess Eaton (52kg)

Pretty smart local sprinter this bloke who gets back and really hits the line hard. With no weight on his back here he looms large. Was 3rd in that race General Beau was 2nd in and drops 5.5kg in this.
