Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  RosehIll Golden Rose Stakes with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps – he has included the potential for rain in his thoughts. Good luck, punters!

1. DAUMIER (7) 13144×0

T: Team Freedman /J: Mark Zahra (56.5kg)

Superstar, when last in work. Won the Gr 1 Blue Diamond and was 4th in the Gr 1 Golden Slipper. Blew like an open gate in the wind last start when resuming and ran accordingly weakening out to near last. Better now but needs to lift.

2. BEST OF BORDEAUX (1) 112×52

T: –

Scratched

3. JACQUINOT (5) 1536×1

T: Mick Price and Michael Kent / J: Damian Lane (56.5kg)

Superstar Gr 3 victor who looks the one to beat. Couldn’t have been more impressive winning in Melbourne first up beating the star Aft Cabin and did so with authority. Is fit and very strong late. Drawn to receive a glorious run.

4. SEJARDAN (8) 11x319x7

T: Gary Portelli/ J: Jason Collett (56.5kg)

Is the forgotten star here. Last two runs, start prior to spell and start when resuming, have been poor. But on his best form he is better than these. Is 2nd up here and worth having in your numbers.

5. POLITICAL DEBATE (13) 2312×8

T: Chris Waller / J: Kerrin McEvoy (56.5kg)

Smart galloper who’s Gr 1 placed earlier this year in Qld. resumed and was run off his feet behind the brilliant In secret last start over 1200m. This is harder but extra trip suits. Sneaky place hope.

6. PROMITTO (2) 11×76

T: David Atkins / J: Josh Parr (56.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Is more than capable but both his runs this time up in this grade have been average at best. Super fit now but may struggle late.

7. GOLDEN MILE (11) 1×21

T: James Cummings / J: Sam Clipperton (56.5kg)

This bloke may be a bona fide superstar. Keeps rising in grade but last start he just blew by them late in the 1400m Gr 3 Ming Dynasty beating a few of these. Just looks so powerful and bullet proof.

8. BROSNAN (17) 64713×6

T:  Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou/ J: Tim Clark (56.5kg)

Gr 1 placed in the winter. Was doing best work when resuming and 6th to Golden Mile last start. Has to improve 5 lengths to beat him and that’s not likely.

9. SEBONACK (9) 140×76

T: Team Hawkes  / J: Willy Pike (56.5kg)

Form is way to inferior to be considered a threat in this.

10. BASQUIAT (12) 2215×33

T: Chris Waller /J: Chad Schofield (56.5kg)

Quality type. Had tough run when a good 3rd to Golden Mile last start. loomed to win but condition gave out. Is fitter now and could place at good odds.

11. FAST WITNESS (10) 2112

T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace /J: Regan Bayliss (56.5kg)

Many punters will under estimate this guy because his form in Melbourne comes from different races. But be warned. He has a powerful finishing burst and this trip will suit. Bound to be making ground late. Handles the mud very well too.

12. MILLANE (4) 1×33

T: Peter Moody / J: Luke Nolan (56.5kg)

This is a good racehorse. Will fly under the radar here as he’s from Melbourne and has been beaten into 3rd spot at his past two starts. But this trip looks to suit. Place show at huge odds.

13. ZOU TIGER (15) 22×18

T: John O’Shea/ J: Ben Melham (56.5kg)

Won his maiden by a space then backed at stakes level last start and was beaten 5 lengths by Golden mile. Not sure if he’s up to this as he gave in meekly last start. Watch betting.

14. FIREBURN (16) 4111112×5

T: Gary Portelli / J: Brenton Avdulla (54.5kg)

The defending 2YO champion of Australia. Won the Gr 1 Golden Slipper. Loves it wet. Was strong late when 5th to In Secret when resuming. We know she can go bang and beat these on her day. Is 2nd up and is unbeaten 2nd up in the past.

15. SHE’S EXTREME (6) 421721×3

T: Anthony Cummings / J: Tom Berry  (54.5kg)

Is very classy and is a Gr 1 winner. Resumed from a spell with a strong burst to grab 3rd in the Gr 2 Furious on a heavy track. Likes it wet and is much fitter now. Respect her.

16. IN SECRET (3) 11×21

T: James Cummings / J: James McDonald (54.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Was responsible for a truly impressive, powerful performance last start to win the lead-up to this. Sat off speed and just raced away. Has won 3 of 4 starts and is n3rd up into this. Looks very hard to beat.

17. PARIS DIOR (14) 212x1x4

T: Team Snowden / J: Blake Shinn (54.5kg)

Really classy filly who has the talent to surprise but this awkward draw makes it tough. Probably goes forward and should be in it for some time.
