T: Annabel Neasham /J: Tommy Berry (59kg)
Superstar, who is scratched from this race.
T: John O’Shea / J: Sam Clipperton (59kg)
This is a good racehorse. So it’s a little surprising that he has won just the one race from his 13 starts. Is generally strong first up and resumes here off two trials. Last time he raced Zaaki he beat him home at Eagle Farm. Likely to get back but can finish.
T: James Cummings/ J: James McDonald (58.5kg)
Superstar Gr 1 victor who looks the one to beat. Couldn’t have been more impressive winning in the mud at Gr 1 level last start over 1400m. Seems to have matured into a bonafide superior galloper. Probably settles back say midfield and he looks to finish like a train.
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/ J: Tim Clark (58.5kg)
Is very smart on his day and has a win over Anamoe at this track and trip before. Wasn’t great when resuming last start in the mud finishing 6th but is fitter now and has tons of finishing power when ridden off the pace. Gai said during the week that he is flying and to expect a much better showing in this.
T: Richard Litt / J: Brenton Avdulla (58.5kg)
Smart galloper who may test these. Is 3rd up now and proven he is well up to this level. This trip will suit too as he can find his long legs. Is a Gr 1 winner over 2000m so respect him here. Has claims.
T: Ed Cummings / J: Josh Parr (57kg)
Interesting galloper. Is more than capable of blowing these away on her day but has to be in the right frame of mind. Has won multiple Gr 1 races, but significant to note, they come when she has had a few runs in each prep. Is only 2nd up here.
T: David Payne / J: Jason Collett (57kg)
How will she handle this? Is a multiple Gr 1 winner and has shown she is more than capable when right. Her $2,418,5000 in earnings from 19 starts attests to that. Has won over 1400m and has won first up. Her last win was earlier this year when easily beating Verry Elleegant so you know what she can do.
T: Brad Widdup/ J: Kerrin McEvoy (57kg)
Star galloper who is honest and a great threat this trip. Gets back a bit runs on very hard. Two times Gr 1 placed last prep and was on hand late when 2nd to Zaaki last start, making good ground. Loves this trip.
T: Chris Waller / J: Hugh Bowman (56.5kg)
Very strong, exciting mare who is particularly good while fresh. Hughie rides her perfectly every time and he did so when resuming and a flashing 2nd to the great Anamoe in the Gr 1 Winx over 1400m. Two trials under her belt, and that terrific first up run – hmmm, rates highly.
T: Chris Waller /J: Kerrin McEvoy (56.5kg)
Is one to watch. Races very well fresh and after her stunning come-from-the-tail 5th at this level behind Anamoe and Fangirl in the Gr 1 Winx says she is ready to cause a major upset. Is very strong late on her day.
