Randwick R8 – $1million G1 Â George Main Stakes 1600m
1. KOLDING (4) 0x22501x59
T: Chris Waller /J: Tim Clark (59kg)
Two runs back from a spell and both have been below his best. Form at this trip is better especially if allowed to be on pace without any pressure but he will have Riodini hammering away at him here. Their respective involvements will only serve to ensure a genuine pace that will suit Verry Elleegant. Â He’s won 11 races after all and nearly $7million in prizemoney. Not keen.
2. THINK IT OVER (6) 03x1214x61
T: Kerry Parker / J: Brenton Avdulla (59kg)
Gee this is a good, tough racehorse. He goes well this journey and goes particularly well at this track. Showed he was more than up to this grade last campaign winning at Gr 1 level in the 1500m George Ryder then was 4th in the Gr 1 Queen Elizabeth. Two starts this campaign have been impressive and he landed the cash in the Gr 2 Chelmsford here last start over a mile beating Riodini. This journey looks ideal and he is the one they need to hold off.
3. CASCADIAN Â (9) 25x3413x54
T: James Cummings / J: Hugh Bowman (59kg)
Class galloper, in fact looks the dark horse in this. Has won up to a mile at Gr 1 level and every run seems to improve him. Was unlucky when dashing late and close 5th to Mo’unga in Gr 1 Winx then was just plain average late when 4th in Gr 2 Chelmsford behind Think It Over. Does love this track and needs a fast tempo which he should get here. Worth one more chance.
4. STAR OF THE SEAS (5) 5x41690x03
T: John Thompson / J: Nash Rawiller (59kg)
Smart galloper who is at his best at this track and at this journey. is also 3rd up in this so strips his fittest and last start was a nice return to form when making ground late in fast run Gr 2 Tramway to grab 3rd behind Zaaki. Place hope.
5. RIODINI (1) x9230x8752
T: Chis Waller / J: Kathy O’Hara (59kg)
Respect this bloke a great deal. He should be a $41 chance but he is dangerous at this journey and is very smart while fresh. Was runner-up this trip at Gr 2 level last start when beaten a nose by Think It Over in the Chelmsford and is fitter now.ming.
6. LION’S ROAR (8) 12x51434x9
T: Chris Waller / J: Jay Ford (59kg)
Interesting galloper. Will get back and will no doubt be trying his best late but hasn’t quite shown enough to suggest he can win a WFA Gr 1 race. Looks tested.
7. VERRY ELLEEGANT (2) 117x3112x2
T: Matt Smith / J: Glen Boss (59kg)
If she wins this she passes the $9million mark in prizemoeny. And does look the winner. Sat behind speed, moved up over the rise took the lead only to be nabbed late by the very smart Mo’unga in the Gr 1 Winx Stakes over 1400m. They ran time. That should make her super fit now and does love this journey.
8. SHOUT THE BAR (3) 6014x300x5
T: Team Hawkes / J: Regan Bayliss (59kg)
Enigmatic galloper who can fire up on her day. Might put some spice into this by making the tempo very fast on her home track 2nd up. Not likely to hold them out though down the running.
9. HUNGRY HEART (7) 27x78111x8
T: Chris Waller / J: Kerrin McEvoy (56.5kg)
Smart mare who has already landed two Gr 1 races last campaign but significantly they were on firm tracks. Doesn’t seem to run at her best when the track is damp and it may well be in this. Â Certain to make her presence felt late if pace is on and the track is drying out.
