1.FIREBURN (9) 4111112×55

T: Gary Portelli /J: Brenton Avdulla (56kg)

The way this race will be run should suit her the most. She is the best horse. Is super fit and her last start 5th was an outstanding trial for this. Should win.

2. SHE’S EXTREME (5) 421721×36

T: Anthony Cummings /  J: Tommy Berry (56kg)

Is dynamic and 3rd up here she looks the obvious danger. Is trained here and has won at Gr 1 level this track beating Fireburn. Great run last start too and is now super fit.

3. ZOUGOTCHA (2) 125×11

T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (56kg)

Probably sits back in about 4th spot from this great draw and should prove tough to hold out. Has come back to racing a good few lengths better than last prep and is unbeaten in two starts this time up, including a Gr 2 win over Madame Pommery last start. Big danger.

4. NORTH STAR LASS (8) 15×314

T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (56kg)

Quality free running filly who is on home track here. Likes to lead and probably does here but has been soundly beaten by Zougotcha at past two runs they have met. Place at best.

5. WOLVERINE (1) 1112x2x63

T: Kris Lees / J: Jason Collett (56kg)

Former Gr 2 winning, Gr 1 placed Kiwi star who is settling into Aussie racing very well. Made up enormous ground late when eye-catching 3rd to Zougotcha in Gr 2 Tea Rose over 1400m.  Rates highly.

6. MADAME POMMERY (6) 6x12x52

T: Chris Waller / J: Hugh Bowman (56kg)

Interesting galloper. Is the dark horse because she runs very well on heavy tracks and is improving every run. Came from the clouds to just fail when 2nd in the Gr 2 Tea Rose last start. This trip suits even more.

7. PAVITRA (4) 5511

T: Team Freedman /J: Kerrin McEvoy (56kg)

Winner of past two but they have been low key provincial level races. Will find this a massive step up in class. Likes to lead.

T: Bjorn Baker /  J: Rachel King (56kg)

Missed a p-lace in Saturday grade then up in class in the Gr 2 Tea Rose and was beaten 4 lengths by Zougotcha. This should test.

9. BYRON BELLE (10) 247

T: John Sargent/ J: Willy Pike (56kg)

Still a maiden after three runs in weaker grade. Not keen.

10. WHISKER TO WHISKER (7) 75×03

T: John Thompson / J: Chad Schofield (56kg)

Maiden after four starts. Wouldn’t win with a head start.
