Two things that always must be taken into consideration, apply to KOUKLARA who is trained by city trainer Joe Pride, in this. Firstly, form. Recent form in slightly better maidens has been strong and is 2nd up here after a good fresh run. Secondly, money. A fair bit of it came in last night. So, Kouklara rates highly as a result. I think JUST TOZZA was impressive when 2nd first-up recently. So toss in for the quinella bet.
Tip: KOUKLARA @ $3.00
Goulburn R4 – Bm58 Hcp 2100mÂ
The weights make this an interesting race. I like DE VALERA because apprentice Amy McLucas rides and she goes well, plus she gets 2kg off his back. That to me makes him a nicely weighted proposition. Did win a BM 64 three runs back and his past two have been useful efforts grinding home into 4th spot in both events. This is easier. He is supremely fit too. Good money has come in for RUKITA so that needs to be respected. They are my quinella players.
 Tip: DE VALERA @ $3.40
Goulburn R8 – BM66 Hcp 1200m Â
Fascinating race. I was all over TULLA PARK last start on a wet track and he ran a game, luckless 3rd. Everything was looking to find the fast lane out wide that day and he spent half the straight dodging and weaving before flashing home. That was on a Heavy 8 over 1010m in a BM 58. Goes up in grade here but lots of scratchings means he jumps from a great gate and the last time he won a race was at this track, on a wet surface in a very strong BM 58. Respect him a great deal today.
