I just think there is something going on here. James McDonald rode SOLVERE last start into a very strong 2nd, a perfect formula race for this. Yet he has left this bloke behind to ride a 3YO filly, a kilo overweight who resumes from a spell with average form behind her. She is called YOU ARE PERSISTENT and I’m certain that Jay Mac would not give up a winning mount just to ride a filly who needs a run. She must, by my reasoning, be ready to go. Watch market. Either way, have them in the quinella.

Here’s a fascinating race. I suspect MACCOMO will fire out from his wide gate and skip across the face of the field to find the front. That’s where he will stay unchallenged until they turn. Parked right on his hammer in 2nd spot will be the British horse FIORDLAND who is now super fit and ready to run a blinder. He will peel off the back of the leader as they turn and hunt him down late to claim the prize. Quinella them as they look the standouts given how the race should be run.

Lots of hopes here which means we may get out on a good price. I like the Newcastle horse TWO UP. I think he’s tough, in form, courageous and drawn to receive a lovely run. Won in the bush when resuming and his two subsequent provincial runs have been very solid under big weights. Will get a back to follow here and if he is produced at the right time, should be right in this finish.
