Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews the Canterbury meeting this afternoon, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 selected races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Good 4
Rail Position: Â Out 4m all way
Lots of money has come overnight for FLYING WITNESS who was a genuinely good 3rd in this grade in town last start with James McDonald in the saddle. The in form Annabel Neasham trains the filly. But, here’s the thing. Jay Mac rides whatever he sees fit and he has chosen to get off this filly in order to ride SWORD POINT, who was plugging to the wire when 4th in the grade last start. He is third up here and up to a trip that appears suited to his style of racing. There is just something in that mount switch that makes me think he is ready to fire up. Obvious quinella all day.
Tip: SWORD POINT @ $4.40
This may be 100m too short for the filly TRIFACCIA but gee she is in well at the weights. When you consider as a 2YO she was the best thing beaten you’ve seen in a Gr 2 race, you just know what a motor she has. Will get back and to be honest she has been disappointing in the 3 starts she has had since that luckless day. She frustrates everyone but it may just be a mental thing and now that she is 3, I suspect she has matured. If she runs up to her best she wins easily and charges past the fav and probable leader BOOMSONG. Quinella bet too.
Tip: TRIFACCIA @ $4.50
A new lease on life may be the reason bush star SHARPE HUSSLER can win this. The 3kg claim for Tyler Schiller is a big help too. This old horse was almost a stakes level horse two seasons back. Lost his way for a while when transferred to Qld, but is back now with his best trainer Cameron Crockett. And he resumed in a flying at Mudgee last start running a cracking 2nd. If he is back to his best he will sprout wings late and win this.
Tip: SHARPE HUSSLER @ $15.00
