Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Friday’s Canterbury meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 3 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 9
Rail Position: Out 3m, entire circuit
A few weeks back there was a really strong maiden at the provincials and it was won by a horse named dethroned Unicorn. In 3rd spot that afternoon was TILLOTSON and I am on her here. She hits the line hard. Tonight she is 3rd up with Hughie on top. She is by Deep Field and his progeny swim in the mud. Looks a safe bet especially at $15!
Tip: TILLOTSON @ $15
Canterbury R5 – BM72 Hcp 1900m
Lots of chances here. But the mud is going to make it fascinating. I kinda like the old boy, the out-of-form MASTER SHUHOOD. For two reasons mainly. He just isn’t a long distance stayer so I think coming back to 1900m will be a coup and will kick start his enthusiasm for racing. The other thing is the class of this race. He is down in grade and chances further enhanced by Jenny Duggan’s 2kg claim. That makes him in this very well at the weights on his best form. ZUDIN can battle away fro 2nd. Lots of speed in this race too which suits. Terrific contest.
Tip: MASTER SHUHOOD @ $25
I really have a sense of occasion regarding this bloke SPEED LEGEND. I think he will absolutely fly through the heavy track and win this comfortably. He is 2nd up, is very lightly raced for a 5YO and his first-up 3rd was in this grade. Brock Ryan rides tonight. He takes 2kg off and that makes this bloke a weighted special in my mind. Plus he’s drawn deep will wont hurt on this surface by this stage of the evening. Just really, really keen on him. Perhaps quinella with LOCH LOMOND.
Tip: SPEED LEGEND @ $7.00
