Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s Canterbury meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 6 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Good 4
Rail Position: True, entire circuit
The thing about FORMENTERA is that he will be off and gone, no hanging around early as he is the pace in the race. The other thing about him is will have improved from his first-up win in weaker grade last start. Â Big, big show.
AGRIMONY ran a nice race this level when 5th last start. He resumed that day. Is 2nd up, therefore, into this and is well placed. Did win handsomely 2nd up last campaign. Â Is in a stable that is in form and he was backed overnight.
Lightly raced GREEN FLASH is also 2nd up. Looks to get back and let the leaders lead, then sweep home hard. Good chance.
Tip: FORMENTERA
Lots of chances here. The classy SUR LA MER looks talented enough but is euphorias in grade. Is 2nd up here but last start win when coming from near last on the bend, was ultra impressive. Top chance.
The hottest ticket in town right now is apprentice Jenny Duggan who steers PARACHUTER in this. And the both the horse and rider are in form. He should be on pace all the way, is super fit and her 2kg claim is a huge help. Â Is working towards a win.
NOTHINSWEETABOUTME has ability and is resuming here. Has talent and failed last campaign when trie as a stayer. Back to sprints and in her grade. Â Keep safe. Terrific contest.
Tip: SUR LA MER
The 2kg allowance for Jenny Duggan puts this bloke OCEAN EMPEROR into this race. He is 3rd up and his best form has actually been in BM 72 races so he will like this from in grade.
KING KAPA bears watching. He is a lightly raced 3YO but shows outstanding talent and we just aren’t sure how good he is. Resumes here but trial win recently was impressive. Big show.
HUZZAH is a smart and fast lightly raced filly who won on debut then narrowly beaten this grade last start. Drawn awkwardly but has speed. Â Much fitter now so looms large.
Tip: KING KAPA
Tough race here with a few hopes. MNEMENTH is up from Albury and has been scratched in recent weeks as connections look for a fast track. Well, they get it here. He’s won both his races this time up. Sits off speed and just chimes in when needed. Respect.
SPEED LEGEND has raced only 3 times and won 2 of them handsomely. Only defeat was a nice 5th in Saturday grade. Resumes here but goes well fresh and has trialled very impressively.
TIM’S PRINCIPAL has been around a good while and is always sharp when racing in town. Knows how to finish off. Â Is in form too.
Tip: SPEED LEGEND
Good race. This will feel like a sprint for TRUE MARVEL. it’s your equivalent to an ultra marathoner running in a half marathon here. Probably gets a long way back but he has won his last two starts, both over 3000m.
Because there appears to be a great deal of pace in this, COMME BELLA FILLE who has finishing power. She is a 4YO mare with just 7 starts under her belt but is improving each run. Â Will sit back and be competitive late.
MONSIEUR SISU is 3rd up here and is ready to run a blinder. Small issue is he likes to lead and two others do also. So will be interesting as pace will be on. Â Respect.
Tip: MONSIEUR SISU
Interesting race because of all the scratchings but gee given how the Richard Litt barn is firing right now, you just can’t leave out their runner BLACK DUKE who resumes in this. He hasn’t won for a while but was pretty consistent this level last campaign. Must have in your numbers.
RAMMSTEIN also resumes here. And he has a very strong record while fresh so has to be strongly considered. Chance.
TINY looks nicely placed. Godolphin runner in the last too, and they always run well. Terrific 2nd last start when resuming so is fitter now.
Tip: TINY
