Horse Racing Best Bets – Saturday 15th October

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for the five best bets of the weekend. Good luck, punters!

ASFOORA was dominant winning at Hillside two starts back then she was luckless when beaten odds on favorite at The Valley when ran onto heels and lost all momentum last 100m. Drawn to get the perfect sit in behind the speed.

She looks a smart mare and third-up from spell is ready to return to winners stall.

Tip: ASFOORA

Always had an opinion of ARGENTIA and forget her finishing position first-up from a break when wanted to overrace and just found one better on the line. She will strip much fitter off that outing and would be looking for her to be ridden a little quieter off the speed.

She races well around the Caulfield circuit and although untried on heavy ground happy to stick with her on an each way basis.

Tip: ARGENTIA

Annabel Neasham has not had all that much luck in the “big ones” in Melbourne over last couple of years but I am looking for her luck to change with her six-year-old gelding NUMERIAN. He comes into this primed third-up from spell and two runs back have been sound.

Chased home Knights Order in the Chelmsford first-up on heavy ground then stayed tough behind Cascadian last start in the Hill Stakes. Likely to get heavy ground again and he will get through that. Extra distance looks ideal.

Tip: NUMERIAN

Going to have something each way on the Queenslander WEONA SMARTONE. David Vandyke would not be traveling south if he did not think this gelding was up to this class. He has won nine of his twelve starts and drawn to drive through and get perfect run in this.

It is a bog step up for him but he deserves a chance in this class and I believe he is up to it and looks nice each way odds.

Tip: WEONA SMARTONE

How can you tip against NATURE STRIP. He looks to be going as well as ever after winning The Shorts on heavy ground first-up with ease. Arguably the world’s best sprinter after a decisive Royal Ascot victory.
Won this race last season and although drawn awkwardly he will roll forward and expect he will be let down soon after straightening and sprint too quickly for these.

Tip: NATURE STRIP
