Looking ahead to Matchweek 9 of the 2023/24 EPL season, we break down the five best bets for the weekend of Premier League action.
1. Mo Salah (Liverpool) to score 2+ goals vs Everton @ $5.00
Mo Salah is looking lethal in front of goal to date this season. His five goals in eight games is complemented by four assists to boot, and the Egyptian appears back to his damaging best. Salah is also coming off a brace prior to the international break, in the Reds’ draw against Brighton. In what will be a highly-charged atmosphere at Anfield in the Merseyside Derby — a great way to kickoff Matchweek 9 and at a friendly time for Aussie fans — Salah will be fed plenty of chances from an in-form Liverpool midfield and could well bang in another two.

2. Tottenham -1.0 vs Fulham @ $2.35
They’ve delivered for us on numerous occasions this season, so why not remain on the Spurs bandwagon? Tottenham are riding high atop the EPL table, and Ange Postecoglou has made an unprecedented start. In fact, the Aussie manager has just won his second Premier League manager of the month gong — the first ever boss to claim the award in their first two months in charge. Vibes are high, and while vibes alone won’t earn three points, an in form Spurs outfit should prove far too strong for crosstown Fulham at home. In fact, they should have enough attacking firepower to win by two or more.
“I don’t think that anybody imagined when Ange came in that there would be such a quick turnaround.” 😮

3. Arsenal H2H vs Chelsea @ $2.15
As far as confidence boosts go, Arsenal’s win over Manchester City in their last outing is enormous. Not only did the Gunners win a proper six-pointer in the (albeit early) title race, but perhaps even more importantly Mikel Arteta’s men now believe they are more than good enough to match it with the world’s best club side. And while Chelsea have steadied with two wins in their last two EPL outings, Arsenal are a far more cohesive outfit at present and should leave Stamford Bridge with three points.

4. Marcus Rashford (Man Utd) anytime goalscorer vs Sheffield Utd @ $2.35
It had been a long old wait for Marcus Rashford to score, but he chose perhaps the best possible stage to do so this week. With England locked at 1-1 in their crunch Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy, Rashford finished off a stunning counter attack — linking up with man-of-the-moment Jude Bellingham in the process — to ensure England safe passage to another major tournament. We know Rashford is a huge confidence player, so this may be just what he needed. With just one goal to date this EPL season (against Arsenal), I’m backing him to grab his second against the league’s bottom-placed side.
This goal from England is textbook counter-attacking football 🤩
From Phil Foden, to Jude Bellingham, to Marcus Rashford in a flash.
Gorgeous.

5. Aston Villa win/Over 2.5 goals vs West Ham @ $2.65
Villa are flying high in fifth on the EPL table, and should have won their fourth game on the bounce last time out if not for a late Ollie Watkins miss against Wolves. Unai Emery has his side well drilled and – outside of the title contenders – Villa Park will be one of the toughest venues to travel to throughout the 2023-24 campaign. I’m backing them to edge the Hammers in this one, doubling up with an Over 2.5 goals bet. Villa’s eight games this season have seen an average of 3.88 goals per game, while West Ham’s have similarly seen 3.38 per game. Goals are likely in what should be an entertaining clash.
