1. TIJUANA (10) 11×331
T: Team Hayes /J: Mark  Zahra (57kg)
The way this race will be run should suit him a great deal. He has the luxury of being able to sit back and sprint home hard or go forward early and set a cracking pace. Either way he is very competitive and this makes him a genuine threat.
2. BERKELEY SQUARE (7) 1×211
T: Dan O’Sullivan / Â J: Craig Williams (57kg)
Is extremely talented. Gave the impression this trip would suit and he has proven he has no trouble with the grade. Won like a good horse last start over 1400m beating Fast Witness and Tijuana with a barnstorming finish. Expect the same here.
3. GOLDEN MILE (5)Â 1×214
T: James Cummings / J: James McDonald(57kg)
Might be a superstar. Sat too close to the pace last start in the $1million Golden Rose over 1400m but still dashed to the front with 250m to go and did well to finish 4th behind Jacquinot. Drawn to receive a glorious run here, probably gets cover this time and will charge late. Big, big danger.
4. MILLANE (11) 1×338
T: Peter Moody / J: Luke  Nolen (57kg)
Is ready to show up. Has talent but after a slightly disappointing 3rd at the Valley over 1200m, he stepped up to silk department and was handled easily when 8th in the Golden Rose. This is a little easier so may place.
5. BANK MAUR (17) 17×21
T: Richard  Lamming/ J: Jye McNeil (57kg)
Such a good, honest and strong 3YO. He seems to be improving with racing and if he had drawn well you’d rate him a shot at odds. Looked strong in disposing of The Fortune Teller and Elliptical over 1400m last start. Place.
6. FOUJITA SAN (18) 21×472
T:Team Hawkes / J: Damien Thornton (57kg)
Interesting galloper. Looks to have a great deal of ability and is 4th up here. Beaten narrowly by Tijuana last start and by Berkely Square and Fast Witness in recent starts too. Trip suits but grade may test him from this horror gate
7. MERIDIUS (16) 31×22
T: Lloyd Kennewell /J: Damian Lane (57kg)
Definite disadvantage being drawn wide because he will have to drift back to find a spot. Saying that, he is lightly raced but possesses a very powerful finishing kick. If he does get in, he might be the red light flashing home late.
8. SKYPHIOS (3) 45x01x
T: Rob Blacker / Â J: Harry Coffey (57kg)
Can stay but resumes here and these will run him off his legs.
9. OSIPENKO (15) 12×7
T: Chris Waller/ J: Tim Clark (57kg)
Trained by Chris Waller so has claims and should be kept safe. But gee, on paper he faces a task being 2nd up from this gate at Gr 1 level after being thrashed last start.
10. AMENABLE (14) 1×43
T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Damien Oliver (57kg)
This is a good, tough stayer in the making. Lightly raced but has already proven he can run with these lads. Sat back near last in strong Gr 3 Prelude over 1400m before making considerable and impressive ground late for 3rd. Fitter now and commands respect.
11. ELKINGTON ROAD (2) 11
T: Michael Moroney /J: Jamie Mott (57kg)
Fascinating horse. Unbeaten in two starts to date but both have been in much weaker events. Sits just off the pace from this gate and was strong on a heavy track under 60kg over 1420m in narrowly winning. Place show.
12. SIR BAILEY (4) 310x40x54
T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace / Â J: Ethan Brown (57kg)
Has potential and is starting to grow into himself. Is the son of former star Gr 1 winner Jameka and he was solid in the Gr 3 Prelude over 1400m last start when 4th. This will test but he may develop into a good horse.
13. ELLIPTICAL (8) 1×43
T: Team Freedman / J: Blake Shinn (57kg)
Probably sits back near midfield and tries to run home. This is his 4th start and he has talent but this Gr 1 may be a campaign too soon.
14. LETHAL THOUGHTS (12) 136×59
T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace / J: Michael Dee (57kg)
Smart racehorse in the making and is 3rd up here but both his runs this time up have been disappointing. May wait until he shows something.
15. THE FORTUNE TELLER (8) 152

Only had three runs but seems to be improving each start. Hit line hard for Jamie Kah when 2nd to Bank Maur over 1400m. This is much harder so probably struggles late. Watch the market.
16. DASHING Â (13) 322×14

Interesting galloper. Won bush maiden easily when resuming then a good 4th making ground late over 1420m in 3YO hcp. This is much harder so probably struggles late.
17. ANGRY SKIES (9) 14

Too inexperienced to be a threat in this.
18. MURAMASA (6) 17
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J: Dan Moor (57kg)
Narrowly won maiden then struggled at Gr 3 level last start. Not keen.
