Horse Racing Tips – Thursday 5th Aug

Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Coffs Harbour and Kembla  race meetings. Good luck, punters and enjoy the Olympics!

Coffs Harbour R2 – Open Mdn Plate 1305m

12:50 (Local time)

Tough maiden as you would expect when you offer up $40,000 in prize money. Heavy support has arrived for AMBRIDGE so have him in your numbers but I really like HUMANITARIAN and even more so, the fact he is a $14 chance. That’s probably because he’s drawn the outside but he is 2nd up from a spell with his new trainer in this and should be ready. I suspect he drops back looking for cover. Last start, here, over 1012m he came from well back to run 2nd. Is trained here. Quinella them.

Tip: HUMANITARIAN @ $14.00

Kembla R3 – Cl 1 Hcp 1200m

14:40 (Local time)

One thing I get excited about is seeing the second campaign of a young horse who showed a great deal of talent at first prep. We get that here with LATINO BLEND. She has a lot of ability, well potential, and I saw it last campaign from just two starts, the highlight of which was a maiden win on debut at Newcastle when 0ver 900m she flew home from 11th on the bend to win running away. Placed in two trials recently and I think she is exciting.

 Tip: LATINO BLEND @ $2.30

Coffs Harbour  R6 – Coffs Harbour Cup 1605m

15:50 (Local time)

Interesting race. You look at the field and you immediately think OPACITY looks the play. But if you peel back the layers you realise he’s up against a real bonafide trier in ITZ LILY. She is weighted up to her best but that best rewarded her with a Muswellbrook Cup win this year. And last start, after a freshen-up she stormed home in town for 2nd in a race that was strong enough to make a real threat here. This track will suit her racing style. Needs to get back and find cover but off she does I think they quinella the race.

Tip: ITZ LILY @ $4.20
