Racing expert, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at today’s meetings and singles out his top three racing tips for the Moruya and Tamworth meetings. Good luck, punters!
Moruya R3 BM58 Hcp 1010m
Tough race but I must say I like it. Firstly, good luck to 4kg apprentice Sally Faulks who rides HALLIDAY ROAD in this. Today will be her very first rode in a race. But I like the 2kg apprentice in this, Amy McLucas. This girl can ride and she is on TULLA PARK who is pretty talented too. Badly drawn in this but she did win at Goulburn on a wet track in a strong Cl 3 before heading to town and running on well when 8th in a Highway. Many, many horses come back to bush races after Highways and perform extremely well. I suspect that happens here. I like HEAVENLY THUNDER for 2nd so have for the quinella.
Tip: TULLA PARK @ $4.60
Tamworth R3 – BM66 Hcp 1600m
I’m on CECILIA here. I’ve taken the $2.10 and just think she is a fair bit better than these. Her past few starts have been in much harder Highway races and she she has run 4th, then 5th and 6th and that 6th was most recent over 1500m when beaten 4 lengths by a horse who was backed off the map. She carried 57kg that day and has 60kg today in a race that is about 8 lengths inferior. BECKFORD may offer some resistance but I suspect Cecilia is racing in 3rd to the bend and is just too swift down the running. Perfectly drawn which helps as well.
Tip: CECILIA @ $2.10
Moruya R7 – Tuross Cup 1650m
Interesting race. I like BLACK WAND in this for the same reason I like Cecilia in the above race. Just looks the best horse. Drawn the fence, top jock on, is in career best form and I think is down a little in grade from past couple of starts where he placed. That’ll all do me.
