Kembla R1 Mdn (2YO) Plate 1000m
Tough race but I must say I like it. A few with potential here like BULLPEN and ULTRA but I’m going on pedigree. The More Than Readys all tend to like the sting out of the ground and a daughter of his, THE HALO, is on debut here. She has finishing power as was seen in her trials recently. She probably sits back in about 5th spot here and then because of her lineage, will hook to the outside and come home very hard. She also gets a welcome 2kg weight allowance. Have Ultra in for the quinella.
Tip: THE HALO @ $4.60
Kembla R3 – Cl 1 Hcp 1300m
I’m on WALKIN’TALKIN’ here. I have a slight concern about the ground but he just looks like a very progressive horse. Last start he won his maiden after Rachel King rode him perfectly. But what I liked was when he reached the lead she wanted him to go on with the job and he did, winning by nearly 2 lengths in the end after being asked to turn off 50m from home. That was just his 2nd race start. Now, this is many lengths harder but he no doubt has improved a great deal also. Perfectly drawn which helps as well.
Tip: WALKIN’TALKIN’ @ $3.20
Kembla R5 – BM64 Hcp 1000m
Interesting race. I like CHARM OFFENSIVE here but with a small caveat. He is 3rd up, trained on the track, is in form and now super fit. All great things. Plus, by this stage of the day he being drawn wide may help. However, he has raced 15 times on rain-effected tracks and is yet to win. To counter that, he has placed 8 times so he is not a duffer. I’m having a good go, mainly because of the form aspect but also, because I dreamed he won. Go figure!
