Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Ipswich meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Soft 5
Rail Position: Out 0.5m entire circuit
Ipswich R1 – 2yo Plate 1350m
MILLWARD looked the winner when found the front first-up at Doomben but fitness told late and found one better. Strips fitter and the tight track will suit him from inside gate.
DERANI was professional winning at Doomben last start when finished too well. Will take sit in behind the speed and with ounce of luck from the corner he can finish over these.
HOT PROFIT was sent out favourite at Murwillumbah on debut and duly saluted. Sure to show natural improvement and can measure up to this.
BALMAURICE just left his run a fraction too late this track last start and had to settle for second spot. Only needs to hold that form to be right in the mix.
Tip: MILLWARD
Ipswich R2 – BM80 Handicap 1666m
PROSPECTUS was placed this track two starts back then he looked unlucky not to have won last start at Doomben when held up early in straight and arrived too late. Drawn perfectly and can win this.
GETYOURGREYON has returned in super form having won both starts this time in. Last stride win fresh then won with something in hand at Gold Coast. He can measure up to this.
MASAFF won this track/distance with ease two starts back then was placed behind a superstar last start at Eagle Farm. Perfect barrier draw and will be in this for a long way.
INDISPENSABLE never runs a bad race. Beaten less than a length at Sunshine Coast last start and although drawn wide can sneak a place.
Tip: PROSPECTUS
Ipswich R3 – BM78 Handicap 2500m
The “Toowoomba Train” INCENTIVISE just should win again. Won by 7 lengths at Toowoomba two starts back then went to Eagle Farm and won by 9 lengths. Too good for these.
Well-deserved win for ISABELLA’S SPRING at Sunshine Coast last start after a string of placings. Would not leave her out of any multiples with the favourite.
TAVION PRINCE was competitive until they balanced-up at Eagle Farm last start. He was blown away by Incentivise but not far off minor spot. He can sneak a place.
ACCESSORY won well enough at the Gold Coast two starts back then led them up before fading late last outing. Only needs to hold that form to be a factor.
Tip: INCENTIVISE
Ipswich R4 – No Metro Wins Handicap 1350m
This is a tough race to find the winner. Have been on WOWSER in his last few starts and although has not won been very competitive and happy to have something each way on him again.
RED BLOOM is unbeaten at Ipswich winning all four starts. She powered away from on speed here two starts back before having no luck in town last start. Cannot leave her out in an even affair.
LUNA MIA just got too far off them in Listed company first-up and was never close. Sure to be better from the run and if she can overcome being drawn out in the car park may sneak a place.
PURRONI was not beaten all that far at Doomben last start when battled on well final stages. Has an awkward gate but would not leave out of multiples.
Tip: WOWSER
Ipswich R5 – 3yo Set Weights 1350m
PALAISIPAN is unbeaten in her three starts and working through her classes with authority. Has the speed to sit up in the first couple and no reason she cannot win again.
PALLADAS was placed at Doomben two starts back then beaten less than a length in the G3 Fred Best last start. That form good enough to get away with this.
TUMBLER RIDGE was enormous winning at Eagle Farm last start. Covered plenty of extra ground and was still too smart for them. Should get better run and can win again.
Liked the way SAFEWORK finished off when placed at Eagle Farm last start. Comes into this ready to find best third-up and from inside barrier cannot leave out of multiples.
Tip: PALAISIPAN
Ipswich R6 – Class 6 Handicap 1200m
DESERT LORD resumes from spell. Started odds on and won at Eagle Farm first-up last prep. Solid in recent trial and can win this.
PHANTOM FALCON jumped to the front and led throughout at Gold Coast first-up. Sure to be better from the outing and can make it two in a row.
Hard to fault the form of DR WHY NOT this prep. Couple of placings leading into this and despite awkward gate would not be surprised to see him right in the mix.
ROMAN AUREUS resumes from spell. Finished last prep with good tough Doomben win. Two trials leading into this and would not leave out.
Tip: DESERT LORD
Ipswich R7 – Ipswich Cup 2150m
SO YOU WIN has been threatening to win this prep with some consistent form. Beaten less than 2 lengths in Listed company last star and he gets his chance to return to winners stall.
LAURE ME IN won the Scone Cup two starts back then battled on well enough at Eagle Farm last start. Finds similar company and expect she will be right in the mix.
IN GOOD HEALTH controlled the race from the front to win in Listed company in Adelaide two starts back then was beaten 200m after leading last start. Sure to roll forward and should be suited around the tight Ipswich circuit.
HUMBOLT CURRENT chased home strongly when placed at Gold Coast last start. Never far away in these type of races and can sneak into another placing.
Tip: SO YOU WIN
Ipswich R8 – Eye Liner Stakes (Listed) 1350m
AXE jumped to the front and beat a quality field at Doomben two starts back then came from well off them when placed in the G3 BRC Sprint last start. That good form for the Eye Liner and he is an Ipswich winner which is always a bonus.
Really liked the way AMISH BOY attacked the line when placed in the Fred Best. Not sure the tight track will suit his racing pattern but Craig Williams aboard and he will give him every chance.
BOOMSARA comes into this ready third-up from spell. Raced on the speed and it took the smart Tumbler Ridge to run him down last outing. Ipswich track will suit his on speed pattern.
RIGHT OR WRONG deserves a chance in this class after a couple of competitive outings. Winner at Ipswich and he could be one at odds for first four players.
Tip: AXE
Ipswich R9 – Gai Waterhose Classic (Listed) 1200m
BOOMTOWN LASS looked like she would benefit from her first-up outing when she chased home the inform Usmanov. Drawn to get the perfect run in transit and she can go one better.
LILLEMOR was impressive winning first-up at Randwick last start. Comes north inform and she can make it two in a row.
INTREPIDACIOUS just went a bit too hard out front at Eagle Farm last start and weakened last 200m. This track will suit her leading style and she can pinch this from the corner.
NIEDORP comes into this ready third-up from spell. Not beaten far in the Bat Out Of Hell first-up then run better than finishing position suggest at Doomben. Won trial since and will be in this.
