Final thoughts: The Best of the Day preview highlights the Australian women’s cricket team’s quest to complete an emphatic cleansweep of the touring Sri Lankan side.

Australia carved out wins by 41 runs, 9 wickets and 132 runs in three T20I clashes – and the ODI series has been similarly one-sided.

With captain Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney and Rachael Haynes in hit half-centuries to lead the hosts to 8/281, Australia won the opener by 157 runs. Tayla Vlaeminck, Jess Jonassen and Ashleigh Gardner all picked up two wickets as Sri Lanka were skittled for 124.

Haynes (118) bagged a maiden ODI ton, while Alyssa Healy (69) and Lanning (45) contributed strongly in a total of 8/282 in game two.

Jonassen was the clear standout with the ball, picking up 4/31 to help clinch a 110-run thrashing.

Harshtiha Madavi (28 and 39) has been Sri Lanka’s standout batter in the ODIs, while Achini Kulasuriya nabbed 3/50 for the tourists in the second game.

Aussies’ record run

Australia have lost just two of 41 games across all formats over the past 18 months, but both defeats were in T20Is. They are currently on a 17-match ODI winning streak that stretches back to 2017.

Sri Lanka have lost their last 18 games across all formats, including eight ODIs.

The brilliant Healy boasts eight fifties and two centuries in 18 ODI knocks over the past two years. The wicketkeeper also plundered a women’s T20I record 148 not out off a mere 61 balls last week. She is a perennial top scorer favourite.

Meanwhile, Ellyse Perry has been subdued in this series with scores of 19 and 5. But she blasted a pair of centuries and two fifties in her previous eight ODI innings. The champion all-rounder is handy Best of the Day value to steer Australia’s charge to 3-0.
