History: Played 11: Heat 7 V Sixers 4

Last meeting: November 9, 2019: Heat d Sixers by 7 wickets at North Sydney Oval

Final thoughts: The Best of the Day preview has lined up a crucial Wednesday night WBBL|06 clash between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers.

Both teams have had two of their four games rained out. The Heat have won one and lost one of their completed matches, while the Sixers are two from two.

Two-time defending champs Brisbane overcame Perth Scorchers and their former batting spearhead Beth Mooney in a seven-wicket season-opening win. All-rounder Grace Harris (53 off 37) swung an evenly-poised game.

After a pair of washouts, the Heat lost a severely rain-affected game against the Thunder on Sunday. They were set 45 to win off five overs but came up 14 runs short after losing seven wickets.

The Sixers beat the Strikers by nine wickets with two balls remaining in their opening assignment. Alyssa Healy (27 off 16) led the way after they were set a revised target of 47 from six overs. Marizanne Kapp (3/14) helped restrict the Strikers.

The Sydneysiders cruised to an eight-wicket win with 29 balls to spare in an 18-over clash with the Renegades on Sunday. Stella Campbell (3/32) and Kapp (1/17) did the job with the ball, but the irrepressible Healy (60 off 31) was again a resounding Player of the Match.

Heat put WBBL hurt on Sixers

The Heat have won four of their last five against the Sixers – including the WBBL 2018-19 final.

Brisbane also won both clashes last season. As she did in the previous year’s decider, Mooney (50 off 45) top-scored in a 92-run rout on opening weekend.

Jess Jonassen (2/20 and 33 off 28) starred with bat and ball in the Heat’s seven-wicket win with 19 balls remaining in their second encounter.

All-rounders Jonassen, Harris and brilliant Kiwi Amelia Kerr give the Heat a chance against any team. But Mooney’s authority at the top of the order has been hard to replace. The Sixers boasting Healy, Elysse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner in their top three slots only highlights the Heat’s disadvantage.

The Sixers should salute as $1.64 favourites. Meanwhile, Healy – who blasted 87 in the last ODI against New Zealand – is showing no signs of slowing down.

Tip: Top Sixers Batsman – Alyssa Healy @ $3.20
